Read the questions carefully and give what is asked. Write your answer on the spaces provided.
1. Define “History” based from the various perspectives given by historians.
 Edward Hellett Carr – history what historian makes
 Robin George – re-anactment in the historian’s mind of the thought whose history he is
studying.
 Michael Joseph Oakeshott – history is the historian’s experience
 Greeks – history as “historia” which means “story”, also means knowledge acquired by
investigation.
 German – “geschicht” meaning event or struggle.
 Defined as the past of humanity. It is a chronological record of significant events.

2. Why is the Filipino term for history “Kasaysayan”?

 Ang kasaysayan ay isang salaysay na may saysay para sa sinasalaysayang grupo ng tao”.
“Kasaysayan” is; therefore, a “salaysay na may saysay” or meaningful narrative.
 Kasaysayan. It simply means "history," to put it briefly and simply. However, if you dig a
little deeper, the word's definition informs you more than just what happened in the
past. It could also be related to the significance of the past. The word "saysay" that
stands there literally means "importance" or "meaning." So I think that when you say
"kasaysayan," you're referring to both the events themselves and their significance and
meaning.

3. Explain how there are so little usable materials left to historians to use.
 Due to the government's seizure and placement of several resources in museums,
including antiquities and weaponry, there are now fewer available resources.
 The three main categories of sources are primary, secondary, and tertiary. Poems,
books, articles, extracts, dictionaries, periodicals, etc. are some examples.
 As more historians have conducted their studies and exploited the historical resources
accessible over time, more can no longer be added.
