• The four evangelists were inspired by the Holy Spirit to write down the life and mission of Jesus

Christ as the Son of God, the Word made flesh, his acts, teachings, Passion and glorification, and
his Church’s beginnings.

The Four Gospels give different pictures of Jesus:

Matthew – Jesus is Man

Mark -- Jesus is Teacher

Luke -- Jesus is Sanctifier

John -- Jesus is God

The Four symbols that represent the four Evangelists:

St. Matthew -- Man

St. Mark -- Lion

St. Luke -- Bull

St. John -- Eagle
