Preliminary Content Reading A sample of the transcripts will be read multiple times with neither notations nor comments.
Open Coding Preliminary and marginal notations or comments will be made as categories and themes
developed. The comments and notations from the sample transcripts will be used to ascertain
thematic categories
Codebook Development A codebook will be developed- list of codes or thematic categories derived from open coding
process
Formal Coding Codebook and transcripts uploaded in Nvivo software. Emerging or additional
codes/categories and sub-categories added as they become available. Excerpts in transcripts
coded with appropriate nodes
Nvivo Reports Nvivo reports will be exported, arranged by Node/theme
