SUBJECT 2300’S REEL DRIVE CHANGES

On occasions a customer will complain about the reel drive on a 21-2300 series
combine to surge, respond slowly or not run fast enough, this is about to change. Feb
3 a new reel drive software and valve will be introduced. This may be a multiple-step
repair rather then a total change over.

1. Replacing the header controller with a newly released controller P/N 239938A8,
which incorporates new reel drive software and calibration procedure should fix
the responding and speed control problems. Current header controller software
version is 3.11, the new software will be 3.15; there is no way to change the
software in the current controller. This will be in production as soon as Fargo
receives hardware. This may be all that is required for older machines.
For the EURO operations with a 2030-2050 header, there is also a new setting
in the “Header Calibration” section for Hde2. This setting should help address
the speed adjustment issues experienced with these headers.
2. A new reel drive valve P/N 87374793 will be installed at Grand Island as soon
as parts are received. The new valve will be capable of using regulated
pressure, rather then reel drive pressure, to control the position of the
secondary spool. The factory will install the valve plumbed as it is TODAY:
NOT USING REGULATED PRESSURE. This valve may be installed on all 21-
2300 series combines.
3. A hose kit P/N 87516526 will be available to convert the valve from using reel
drive pressure to regulated pressure to control the secondary spool. This will
require the new controller, which will provide a new calibration procedure. This
calibration is accessed through the “Header Calibration” procedure. The valve
and software will operate with out the calibration, but its operation will not be
optimized with performing the calibration.
