ACT 4:
SCENE I:
THE QUEEN CLOSET
QUEEN GERTRUDE: (Thinking alone)
Oh my God! What did my son do….He killed Lord
Polonius. He become a killer. He dipped his hands in the
blood of an innocent man, which had nothing to do with
all these matters. His only mistake was that he was
secretly listening to us!
Ah! It all happened because of me. I am responsible for
my son’s condition. Oh Lord! Pardon me…...
Gosh! Claudius cleverly killed my first husband and did
not let anyone know and I married the killer of my own
love just to be queen. What happened to me?
Soon! I will avenge my husband’s murder by killing
Claudius and ending all troubles in my son’s life. Soon
my son become the King of Denmark.
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern enters in queen
closet.
ROSENCRANTZ:
May we ask you something?
QUEEN GERTRUDE:
Yes! Ask.
GUILDENSTARN:
Where is Hamlet? We have to meet him.
QUEEN GERTRUDE:

I don’t know where he is….Why you both asking about
him?
ROSENCRANTZ:
The king has commanded us to keep spy on him because
of his madness.
QUEEN GERTRUDE:
I have an offer for both of you.
GUILDENSTERN:
What?
QUEEN GERTRUDE:
If you want to know the offer… meet me tomorrow
morning in the castle and don’t tell about this to king.
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern both exit.
SCENE II
Hamlet enter in Ophelia’s home with his father dead
body.
HAMLET:
Oh my beloved! Where are you? See what happened to
me. I have committed a sin. Your father was killed by my
hands.
Ophelia enter in the room. Tears welled up in her
eyes, her face gets red and blotchy, her eyes bloodshot
and her eyelids puffy. She get a lump in her throat,
her voice cracks when she try to speak.
OPHELIA:
Oh Hamlet! What did you do? You killed my father. You
are a murderer.
HAMLET:

My darling! It all happened unknowingly. I had no
intention of killing your father. I have made a big
mistake, I have sinned. I am your sinner. I will accept
whatever punishment you give me.
OPHELIA: ( Crying badly )
I will never forgive you. Get out of my house. You were
not worthy of my love. I made a big mistake by making
you beloved.
HAMLET:
My beloved! There is nothing I wish for right now other
than your forgiveness. Please please please forgive me.
OPHELIA: ( Thinking alone )
Hamlet is a prince. He could have hidden everything for
me, if he wanted to. But he did not. May this is true love.
This desire is called love.
OPHELIA TO HAMLET:
You killed my father and orphaned me. I have nothing to
do with you any more. I can only do so much for you that
I will not reveal you a murderer publically. I will cover
your sin. Just go away from me and never come back to
me.
Hamlet left Ophelia’s home.
Ophelia wrote a letter to her brother Laertes.
OPEHLIA:
My dear brother! Dad is no more with us. He passed
away. I don’t know who came in their enmity and kill our
father. Please come quickly.
SCENE III
Polonius funeral ceremony
Laertes reached

 King Claudius Was also there.
LAERTES:
I don’t know who killed my father but one day I will find
my father’s killer and avenge my father’s murder.
KING CLAUDIUS:
You are like my son. I am sure that one day you will get
a revenge. You too are brave and courageous like your
father and I am sure you will be as faithful as your father
was.
LAERTES:
Pleasure!
KING CLAUDIUS:
From now on, you will fulfill all his responsibilities.
LAERTES:
I am very grateful to you for considering me worthy and
I will do my best to live up to your expectations.
SCENE IV
Queen met Rosencrantz and Guildenstern in her
closet.
Both bowed their heads in front of queen.
ROSENCRANTZ:
Your majesty, respected queen! You invited us here. Tell
us what can we do for you.
QUEEN GERTRUDE:
I have an offer for both of you.
GUILDENSTERN:
What? My Queen….
QUEEN:

I will give you whatever you want. You just have to do
one thing that you have to spy on King Claudius and you
both let me know about every thing that has to do with
Hamlet.
Both surprised.
QUEEN:
Do not you both worry. You are not doing anything
wrong. I just want to know everything about my son.
ROSENCRANTZ AND GUILDENSTERN:
Okay fine! We will do as you say.
Both exit.
SCENE V
Queen Gertrude met with Ophelia in her house.
QUEEN GERTRUDE:
My princess! How are you.
OPHELIA:
What should be the condition of a girl whose father has
been killed by her beloved?
QUEEN GERTRUDE:
My son has broken mountain of sorrows on you. I
apologize to you on his behalf. I know this sin is
unforgivable but still I apologized to you. My daughter
forgive us…..
Hamlet enters
HAMLET:
My love! Please forgive me. I can not stand your
separation.
Laertes enters and quietly listened to them.

HAMLET:
This sin happened to me in the fire of revenge. I had no
intention of killing your father. King Claudius killed my
father. He orphaned me and very cleverly married to my
mother.
Tears welled up in Queen Gertrude’s eyes.
Ophelia astonished.
HAMLET:
If you do not forgive me. I will kill my self with my
sward.
OPHELIA:
No, Hamlet don’t do this. I swear to you don’t kill your
self. I will no longer be able to bear the separation of my
beloved. I forgive you!
Hamlet and Ophelia both hug each other.
Laertes exit.
QUEEN TO OPHELIA:
My daughter! This is what I expected from you. You
have lightened the burden of my heart.
QUEEN TO HAMLET:
My son! Now don’t worry. I will take your revenge. All
you have to do is be patient and think about your future
life.
Queen Gertrude and Hamlet exit.
SCENE VI
Room in the castle.
Laertes met with King Claudius.
LAERTES:

Oh my King! I have a news for you. Your prince Hamlet
has killed my father. I heard Hamlet talking to my sister
Ophelia. Queen Gertrude was also there.
KING CLAUDIUS:
What are you talking about? Are you in your senses?
LAERTES:
Yes, my lord! I am. My heart wanted me to kill Hamlet
in that time but I was stopped by the oath of allegiance to
you. My sister is also a traitor. She betrayed me. She
gave priority to her love over her father. She is a
deceiver. I came to you first and told you this.
KING CLAUDIUS: (Alone thinking)
He would not lie about such a big things. Queen was
there too, meaning she hide such a big thing from me. Of
course, the mother and son become suspicious of me.
Before they make any conspiracy, I will remove Hamlet
from my path. I will send him to England and kill him.
LAERTES:
Oh my king! I have come to you with the hope of justice.
I hope you to do justice.
KING CLAUDIUS TO LAERTES:
Don’t worry my son! I will do something for you but
Hamlet is the prince. The people of Denmark love him. I
can’t punish him easily. Now we don’t even have proof. I
can’t do any thing wrong with him just only with your
testimony but you don’t worry. I have a plan of killing
Hamlet. Soon! I will send him to England with my spies
and they will kill him there. Hamlet will be killed in
England and with that your revenge will be complete.
My son! I wanted you to send you France. I have some
work for you. You go there and get that work done. By

the time you return, you will have heard of Hamlet
death.
Claudius call Rosencrantz and Guildenstern.
LAERTES:
Thank you very much for understanding my feelings and
giving me justice.
Laertes exit.
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern enter.
Both bowed their head in front of King Claudius.
ROSENCRANTZ:
Your majesty! You called us. We are here.
KING CLAUDIUS:
Yes! I have a task for both of you. You both have to go to
England with Hamlet and as soon as you go there you
have to kill Hamlet and declare his death as an accident.
ROSENCRANTZ:
Ok King! As you order. We will do the same.
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern exit.
ACT 5:
SCENE I
King Claudius met Queen Gertrude in the room.
CLAUDIUS:
O’ dear! My love…. How are you?
QUEEN GERTRUDE:
Fine! What about you.
KING CLAUDIUS:

I am good! I have something very important to say to you
about Hamlet. I am worried about Hamlet’s madness. I
don’t understand why Hamlet gone be crazy day by day.
QUEEN GERTRUDE:
What can we do?
KING CLAUDIUS:
I want to send Hamlet to England so that Hamlet can
have some peace of mind. If the climate changes, if he
get out of this environment so that his condition may be
improve.
QUEEN GERTRUDE: (alone thinking )
May be he is right. If he stay away from this
environment, he will probably stay calm. Going to
England will reduce Hamlet’s depression.
KING CLAUDIUS:
After all, he is the future King of Denmark and he has to
handle all this.
QUEEN GERTRUDE:
Yes, you are right! I talk to Hamlet. He will definitely
obey me and go to England.
Hamlet enter in the room
QUEEN GERTRUDE TO HAMLET:
My son! You have to go to England.
HAMLET:
But why?
KING CLAUDIUS:
For peace of mind.
HAMLET:

I am fine here…. I will not go anywhere.
QUEEN GERTRUDE: (crying)
I swear to you. You will go to England.
Ghost appeared
( Only Hamlet sees the ghost)
GHOST:
My brave son! Never hurt your mother.
Ghost disappeared
HAMLET:
Okay fine! Don’t cry…. After my father I love you the
most. I will go wherever you want…..
Hamlet exit.
CLAUDIUS:
I have arranged every thing. They have to leave
tomorrow early morning.
SCENE II
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern met with Queen
Gertrude.
ROCENCRANTZ:
My Queen! I have a news for you.
QUEEN GERTRUDE:
What?
GUILDENSTERN:
King Claudius has ordered us to kill Hamlet.
QUEEN GERTRUDE:
Are you serious?

ROSENCRANTZ:
Yes! We have been ordered to take Hamlet to England
and then kill him and declared his death an accident.
QUEEN GERTRUDE: ( alone thinking )
Oh my God! What a great conspiracy king has
hatched….After my husband, he now want to kill my son
too. Now its time to dump King. I will not stain my son's
hands with blood. I will kill this bloody person my self
and take revenge of my son.
QUEEN GERTRUDE:
Oh my God! He want to kill my son.
ROSENCRANTZ:
Now! What is your order for us?
QUEEN GERTRUDE:
You two take Hamlet to England but he should not get a
scratch there. Go there and there and wait for my
message.
ROSENCRANTZ:
Okay Queen.
Both exit.
SCENE III
Early morning.
Hamlet in graveyard
HAMLET: (thinking alone)
What shall I do?......Live or die?......what to do or what
not to do?.......when will my revenge be fulfilled? When
will I avenge my father.
Grave Digger came.

GRAVE DIGGER:
Oh young man! What are you doing here. This is not
your place. This is the place of dead bodies.
Hamlet sing a song.
HAMLET:
Grave digger, grave digger
Send me on my way
Release me to this earth
Within the shallow grave
Grave digger, grave digger
Bring me to my knees
Forget what I have done
Forgive me if you please
Save me if you can
The time for me has came
Let me be the one
That got away.
Grave digger, grave digger
Pray for my lost soul
Release me from this earth
Allow me to grow old
Save me if you can

Hamlet and two spies left for England.
SCENE IV

 Room in the castle.
Queen and King were ready to sleep.
KING CLAUDIUS:
Oh my love! You are beautiful as well as very intelligent.
You made a good decision to send Hamlet to England.
There he will be relieved of all worries.
QUEEN GERTRUDE:
Yes! My lord…lets go to sleep. Its your bed time. You
need rest.
Both lay down on the bed.
QUEEN GERTRUDE: (Alone thinking)
I will never let this conspiracy of your succeed. You want
to kill my son. I will not let you see tomorrow’s sun.
Your plot will fail and you will not see tomorrow
morning.
King fall asleep
Queen Gertrude puts poison (hebanon) in King’s ear
and falls asleep peacefully.
Early morning
The Queen Gertrude wake up and check king’s
breath to see if King Claudius is dead or not….
The Queen screams….Call the soldiers and servants.
People gathered in the room.
QUEEN GERTRUDE: ( Her voice crack when she try
to speak)
See what happened to your King…He is not getting up.
He is not breathing. He left us.
Tears welled up in her eyes.

 Everyone started crying. Greif and sorrow spread.
There was a mournful atmosphere in the palace.
Queen wrote a letter to Hamlet.
QUEEN GERTRUDE:
Hello my dear son! I hope you are fine. There was a good
news for you. Your mother took your revenge. You don’t
have to worry any more. Just come back to Denmark.
This kingdom is waiting for you. Come quickly…..
SCENE V
Coronation ceremony of Hamlet in the church.
Horatio, Queen Gertrude, Hamlet, Ophelia and Royal
courtiers in church.
Archbishop gave Bible Hamlet a Bible book.
ARCHBISHOP:
Sir, is your majesty willing to take the oath?
HAMLET:
I am willing…..
ARCHBISHOP:
Will you solemnly promise and swear to govern the
people of Denmark?
HAMLET:
Yes, I solemnly promise.
ARCHBISHOP:
Will you to your power cause law and justice, in mercy,
to be executed in all your judgments?
HAMLET:
I will…..
ARCHBISHOP:

Will you to the utmost of your power maintain the laws
of God?
HAMLET:
Yes, I will…..the things which I have hear before
promised, I will perform and keep.
Hamlet kiss the bible and sign the oath and delivered
the bible to the Archbishop.
Archbishop announce that Hamlet is now a King of
Denmark.
HAMLET:
Thank you all very much for coming here. On this happy
occasion, I want to give you all another happiness.
Hamlet went to Ophelia and set down on his knees.
HAMLET TO OPHELIA:
I love you very much… you are the hope of my life. I
want to spend my whole life with you….Will you marry
me?
OPHELIA:
Yes off Corse…. My life is in you. Definitely I will
marry you.
At the moment in the church, they both get married.
Suddenly Laertes came to the church and angrily
attacks Hamlet.
King Hamlet soldiers and comrades move forward to
save Hamlet but Hamlet stops them.
KING HAMLET:
None of you will come forward. You all go out and wait
for us. I will take care of this matter my self.
LAERTES:

I will kill you. You are my father’s murderer. I will
definitely take revenge.
King Hamlet also retaliates with his sward.
Queen Ophelia tries to resolve the fight.
QUEEN OPHELIA:
No, brother….you are misunderstanding. You have
misunderstood. Not as you understand. Give me a
chance….i will explain you.
LAERTES:
Shut up! I did not expect this from you. How selfish you
are to find your love.
Ah! You married the murderer of your own father.
During the fight, Laertes kill both King Hamlet and
Queen Ophelia.
Laertes is executed for killing the King Hamlet and
Queen Ophelia.
Queen Gertrude got mad in the shock of her son’s
death and committed a suicide.
Horatio told the whole story to the prince of
Fortinbras.
The prince of Fortinbras became the King of
Denmark.
