DESCRIPTION CHARACTERISTICS / ADVANTAGES

Sika® Formol is a chemical release agent that has been
designed and formulated to function as a bondbreak-
er between formwork or moulds and freshly placed
concrete.
USES
Sika® Formol is primarily used as a general purpose re-
lease agent on the construction site. It is ideal for ap-
plication to a wide range of surfaces such as timber,
steel or fibreglass.

▪ Allows for fast and easy striking of formwork
▪ Very economical and easy to apply through conven-
tional spray equipment
▪ Highly stable during placement and vibration of con-
crete
▪ Does not stain or contaminate the finished concrete
surface
▪ Regular use will help to reduce the incidence of rust
on steel moulds

Shelf Life Twelve (12) months from date of manufacture when stored as stated.
Storage Conditions Store in unopened original containers in dry conditions between +5°C and
+30°C. Keep containers closed and in a well ventilated area when not in
use. Do not expose to direct sunlight in storage.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
APPLICATION
▪ Sika® Formol is supplied ready to use and should not
be diluted.
▪ Surfaces to be coated should be clean and free from
grease, dirt or old concrete.
▪ The optimum method of application is by conven-
tional spray equipment, however, a brush or roller
can also be used.
▪ Sika® Formol should be applied at the stated cover-
age rates to obtain a thin and even film over the en-
tire surface of the mould or formwork.
▪ Any excess liquid remaining on the surface after ap-
plication should be mopped off. Allow 1 - 3 hours to
dry before pouring concrete.
LIMITATIONS
▪ Treated formwork should not be left exposed to
heavy weathering or dust accumulation for long peri-
ods, maximum 7 days depending on conditions.
▪ New unsealed timber will initially require 2 - 3 coats
of Sika® Formol due to the porosity of the timber.
▪ Only a thin film of the product is required to ensure
maximum performance. Excess application may
cause staining.
