Hypothesis

It is known that every year thousands of people regarding of social standing lose
everything they have because of fire incidents. And schools are not exempted from
these incidents. Lately, we witnessed when one of the schools in Butuan City got
burned into ashes. Fire comes like a thief, it occurs when we least expected it. Every
student in SJIT must know about Fire Safety Awareness because when dealing with
fire, it is important to remain alert at all times and follow preventive measures to prevent
loss of life. Fire Safety Awareness includes assessing the possible risk that may lead to
a fire incident and how to deal to prevent the incident or minimize the damage caused
by fire.

Significance of the Study

This study is very important to both students and faculty. This study will analyze the
possible cause and risks of fire in the school vicinity and how to take action in
preventing or ensuring minimal damage to both life and property in case of a fire
incident. This study will help each student and the school on improving and implement
Fire Safety Awareness with the help Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)

Methodology

Stangor (2011) describes research design as a method used by researchers to collect,

analyse and interpret data. Similarly, de Vaus (2001, p.9) explained that research
design is a “structure” and a “work plan”, it is further stated that research design is a
method in which research questions can be satisfactorily answered.
Given the purpose of this study to understand the work and importance of Fire Safety
Awareness.
The qualitative methodology was used for the current study. The method allowed the
researcher to understand the work and importance of a of Fire Safety Awareness. The
study utilised thematic content analysis to understand the importance and effects of Fire
Safety Awareness. Thematic Content Analysis has been defined as “a quantitative
analytic method for identifying, analysing and reporting patterns within data, it also
minimally organises and describes data set in rich detail”
