1 Overview
PERI Library+ is a plug-in for Autodesk Revit. The plug-in helps to do formwork planning in Revit. PERI
Library+ contains an article catalogue where you can select the article you are looking for. Then you can
insert the article to your project. To place the articles easier into your model there are additional
functionalities available. In addition PERI Library+ offers you predefined detaillevels. Thus, you can change
quickly between different views. For example you can have a fast look to the concrete how it looks after
removing the formwork.
You get an additional tab in Revit with the installation of PERI Library+. The tab is called “PERI”. You can find
all functions relating PERI Library+ in this tab.
3 Functionality
The PERI tab which appears with installing PERI Library+ looks as follows:
Panel Information:
access to the help file
With pressing the configuration button the configuration dialog opens. In this dialog you can change the
language of your interface and the language of the currently used PERI families. Furthermore, you can
create new localizes families.
The initial families are the basis for all PERI families. These initial families don’t contain any information
except of the geometry. The installation contains localized families in English and German. They contain
empty parameter fields in the selected language in addition to the geometry (e.g. article number, weight, … ).
But there is no value written in. The properties are empty, if you load a PERI family without the plug-in into
your project. You need to select an article catalog and the extension that the properties get filled in during
inserting with the plug-in. Therefore you can use the installed article catalog and extensions (in English or
German). If you have another data set from PERI you can use this one as well.
Create new localized families if there is an update of the initial families or the data set.
More information regarding families are written down in chapter 3 PERI family in a Revit project.
3.2.1 Settings
Note:
If you have opened at least one family in your project, you can’t change the language anymore. Set the
language of the families in the beginning of the project.
You have to create new localized families if there is an update of the initial families or the data set. Select the
language first . The article catalog and the article catalog extension adapt automatically. If you have
a newer article catalog or article catalog extension you have to change the path. You have to make this
selection that the new families contain the property fields in the right language. In the extended settings
you have to select the path of the new initial families. As path of the current used families you have to select
to location where the new localized families should be created. In addition, you have to select the preview
images which should be shown in the browser. Then you can click on “Create Families” to start the process.
Afterwards you can use the families in your project.
Node:
Pay attention that you use a new empty project (default template) to generate new language for families.
After creating families project must be closed.
With the help of the PERI Browser you can search or navigate to desired PERI articles and load the selected
article into a Revit project with all belonging data.

With the help of movable separators, customization of the PERI Browser window is possible.
The catalog is a tree view that allows you to select PERI articles in a certain category. To search a PERI
article navigate through the available categories. Articles can be shown on multiple categories.
For faster searching it is possible to use a search field. Write the filter criteria (article number or article name)
into the search field and press ENTER for searching articles directly. For returning to Catalog view you must
delete the search set and press ENTER.
3.3.3 Properties
The property table shows properties of the selected article. Next to it you can see a preview image of the
current selected article.
Properties are read only and you can’t change them. After an article is loaded into the Revit project you can
edit the property “Own Stock”. By editing “Own Stock” you can define which elements you physically own.
3.3.4 Subcomponents
The subcomponents are listed up in the lower part of the browser. Subcomponents of a MAXIMO element
are e.g. anchors and couplers . They are connected directly with the element. Usually you need to place
the anchors and couplers after an element was placed. In general, a subcomponent is defined as a family
that is linked to another family. When an article has subcomponents they will be shown in the subcomponent
list .
Subcomponents are grouped by subcomponent groups. The placement of subcomponents can be done
manually or automatically with the main family (2.3.5 The Placement). Some subcomponents do not support
automatic placement (check box can’t be selected).
After selecting “Set Family” the current selected PERI article is loaded into the Revit project. The placement
of the main family is done like with ordinary Revit families (face based, level based, etc). When an article has
subcomponents, they can be placed manually or automatically with the main family. Manually placement of
subcomponent means that the main and the subcomponent family is placed by you (you place family after
family, but you do not need to go and search for the family inside the PERI Browser). In case that you select
automatically placement of subcomponent you must place only the main family, the subcomponent families
are placed automatically on the predefined locations.
In case of manually placement of the subcomponents you can use additional “helpers” which are usefully for
the placing of families. Helpers can be turn on and off within the PERI Detaillevel panel.
The button „Check Updates“ compares the current used PERI families within the Revit project with the
localized families and the article catalog. In case you get new families or data sets you have to create new
localized families (see chapter 2.2.2 The creation of localized families) before comparing the versions.
You will get a conclusion of the analyses. In this dialog you can start to override the current used families with
the newest families and data information.
The following pictures show the detail levels inside Revit for PERI families.
Beside the standard Revit detail levels PERI families support additional Detaillevel. PERI Detaillevels change
graphical overrides in the current used view. Defined graphical filters can activate the 2D view, the 3D view,
the helper elements or the concrete finish of the currently used PERI families.
n „2D” is used to simplify models. It shows just the 2D presentations of the families. This feature is usefully
for plan and section views.
n „Concrete finish” is used to present the concrete surface after removing the formwork
n „Helper” is used to show additional helpers-elements which are helpful during the placing of others
elements
For each PERI family there is an option to individually change the settings regarding the presentation. These
settings can be found in the properties bar, Graphics.
During the installation there are also additional materials created for Revit. PERI materials are used for PERI
elements inside the Revit project.
4.1 Properties
Assigned properties can be used for creating schedule lists. All properties are read only except “Own stock”
there you can mark which articles you own. In case of loading families without the plug-in PERI Library+ the
additional data is not shown in the properties of the family.
The handling of PERI families is the same like with other families in Revit. Most of the families for wall
formwork are face based. Most of the families for slab formwork are level based.
5 PERI template
With the installation of PERI Library+ there is a PERI template created. The idea of using the PERI template
is to link a building model/project to the PERI template. The template contains predefined view styles and
schedule lists for easier work and presentation of the formwork design.
Thanks to the predefined views inside the template you do not need to lose time by creating views.
Predefined views are defined to show PERI elements in 3D, to present concrete finish after removing
formwork from walls/slabs and 2D presentation of the PERI elements. You can customize and adapt the
template.
There are different positions of elements possible (horizontal and vertical) therefore the elements are
sometimes not visible in the plan view (ex.: the anchor is placed on a height which is over the cut plane). To
show all elements in the plan view the View Range must be customized. This can be done with settings
inside the View Range for the selected plan view.
In case of slab formwork, the same command can be used to change the view direction and to use the
bottom level as underlay.
To eliminate errors that can appear when working with the PERI Detaillevel settings in the property bar and
schedule lists it is recommended to check the view settings for each element. This can be quickly checked
with schedule lists. Schedule lists are already predefined in the PERI template for Revit.
The Revit options for phases can be used to define units/cycles for formwork. This can be usefully to make
schedule lists for each unit/cycle. Phases can be defined inside the Revit tab Manage, panel Phasing.
The phases must be assigned to the families so you can create schedule lists for formwork unit.
When you create schedule lists you must be aware of the phases that are set for each quantity template.
7 General information
With the standard installation of PERI Library+ there are data sets in German and English language installed.
This data sets can be different for each country. In case that you want actual data for a specific country you
must contact the local PERI distributor. With the provided data base from your local distributor you can
upload the data inside Revit and use actual local data regarding PERI articles inside projects.
