can call me August, it’s my English name I put for myself since I was a secondary school’s student. Now
I’m studying in Academy of Policy and Development. I’m freshman in Finance.

I’m now living with my family, my parents and my brother in Hải Dương province. My parents
are working in an electric factory. And my brother, who older than me only a year now is studying in
HUST.

What's your favorite season and why?

 My favorite season would be winter… because it’s cold outside so you don’t need to hang out,
just stay in your bed, drinking a cup of warm tea and reading a fancy book. And another reason is I
have a lot of nice clothes for winter so I always look forward to winter so I can wear them.

What kind of weather do you like? (Why?)

 I prefer warm days, it’s at around 24/25 degree with clear blue sky and the sun. It
perfect for hanginf out with friends, take some selfies or just window-shopping without
being too uncomfortable.

What's your favourite TV programme?

 Well I used to watch a lot of TV programmes but not anymore cause I have no time to watch
TV. However, there is one that I’d like to talk about:” Year end meet ”. It’s a Vietnamese annual
TV satirical comedy that airs on all of VTV channel on the Lunar New Year’s Eve. The show is
widely popular in Vietnam and is considered as a traditional show of Vietnamese Lunar New Year
on television. “ Year end meet ” or “ Gặp nhau cuối năm ” is famous for its comedic view of the
problem in Vietnamese economy and society throughout the year.

Do you like watching TV alone or with your family?

 To be honest, I prefer to watch TV alone cause I be in love with horror movie but none of
member in my family like this type of film so they’ve never watched TV with me.

What do you like (most) about your hometown?

 I like the peaceful of this place. Also the hospitality and the love of people here. Everyone is
living close together and willing to give other a hand when they need help. This place is grown me
up. I think I’ll miss my hometown soooo muchhh if I have to back to school.

What is your hometown famous for?

  The first thing people think of Hải Dương people is lisp. For example: n and l, r and d, ch and
tr,..etc ( et cetera ), we spell the same😊. Another thing make my hometown become famous is
green bean pastry. It’s a type of cake made from mung bean flour smoothed with sugar and
vegetable oil or animal fat.

What do you usually do at the weekend?

 To be honest, I do nothing. Because I have no class on the weekend so I often stay on my bed
until lunch or sometimes, I skip the lunch and leave my bed before the dinner. My mom always
told me that I wass quite slothful. But I don’t sleep, I’ve just laid on my bed and watching films or
surfing Internet or sometimes I just lay there, stare at the ceiling and imagine my life in the future.
You know, day dream…

When do you spend time with your family?

 Im used to spend my time with my family on late afternoon or evenings. It’s all about work and
study. Nowadays, everybody is focused on self-development and career so it is hard to spend more
time with family.

PART 2: MONO TALK ABOUT A TOPIC

Topic: CLOTHES AND FASHION

This is indeed an interesting topic to talk about.

As soon as I heard about this topic, you know, several well-groomed people’s faces crossed my mind.
But for this topic, I would like to talk about my mom who, in my opinion, has the best dressing senses.
My mom, she is not working for any fashion industry. She is a office worker in an electric factory.
However, she is considered as a fashion icon by a lot of her friends and co-workers. She loves the
classic style, which means, her fashion is simple, she not usually use brand stuff. Instead of that, she
mix and match some normal clothes and yeahh it turns out to be stylish all the time.
Everyone around us believes that my mom has an eye for fashion; therefore, they often ask my mom
for some advices. She said to me that: “ Dressing well is a good form of art ”. And of course, she is
also my fashion inspiration.

Topic: FAVOURITE MOVIE

Well, this is indeed an interesting topic to talk about.

Coz I’ve watched a lot of movies before. But for this topic, I would like to talk about the one, in my
opinion, is the easiest movie to present and it is no less interesting. It is “Trick or Treat” – a 1952
animated short film produced by Walt Disney Productions. The film, which takes place on Halloween
night, follows the series of pranks between Donald Duck and his nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie.
However, in this episode, there is also the appearance of Witch Hazel. The film opens with the song
“Trick or Treat for Halloween”, the lyrics of which tell the film’s moral – one must be generous on
Halloween or face trouble. The cartoon revolves around the bad pranks between Donald, his nephews
and Hazel. In the end, Huey, Dewey and Louie collect their treats and Hazel flies off into the night.
Although its only a short film lasting for 9 minutes, I think its quite suitable to watch it with friends or
family on some cold days like this, everyone gathers together to watch TV and drink a cup of hot
chocolate. Its so perfect!!
Topic: A SHOPPING CENTER

The shopping centre that I often go to and would like to talk about is (...tell a shopping centre's name
from your city....). This is the largest shopping centre of the city and is probably the most popular one.
This shopping centre is in the middle of the city and is 20 stories. You can find almost everything in
this shopping centre and the reasonable prices and quality of the products have made it a popular
shopping mall where people from all classes come to shop. You name it and you can find it here; from
grocery shop to 3D cinema, the food-court to the playground, gym and thousands of shopping shops
are there. The market authority imposes a strict rule about the quality and price and that's why you can
find products at a reasonable price here. The neat and clean environment, the rigid security, the
arranged shops and shopping convenience are the main reasons I visit this shopping mall very often.
There is a dedicated floor only for social gathering and there you can sit and talk to your friends as long
as you like.

I go there almost 2-3 times a month. If there are more shopping to do, or if it is before any major
festival, I go there more than 3 times. I go there not only for shopping but also sometimes for social
gathering, party, to have lunch or dinner or to watch a movie.

There are many positive reasons why this shopping centre is popular among the visitors and shoppers
including security, reasonable price, shopping convenience, the position of the shopping centre, and
convenience of parking, open space and neat environments. The interior and exterior of the shopping
mall are very attractive. In front of the building, you will find a large open space, more like a big park
or a garden. You can sit there for a long and no one is going to ask you to go away!

Topic: FAVOURITE ANIMAL

First, I have to tell you that I’ve never had a pet before becoz my brother has asthma, he is not allowed
to near any kind of animal with fur. But to talk ab this topic - the animal that I like, I would like to talk
about the duck.
So the first time i saw the duck not in reality but in cartoon. You know, there iss a cartoon character
created by Walt Disney named Donald Duck. Instead of being as friendly and likeable as Mickey
Mouse, Donald Duck is abit naughty, temperamental and cocky. But in my point of view, I think
Donald is so cute and it’s he who makes me fell in love with this animal more and more. Most of the
ducks that I see are usually white with a yellow-orange bill, legs and feet. However, its baby, duckling
is pale yellow. In argiculture, ducks are raised for meat, eggs and down. A few are also kept for show,
as pets, or got their ornamental value.

Topic: A WEEKEND AWAY

A few days ago, my friends and I decided to go on a picnic to Bãi Bông, a small intersting place in
Cộng Hòa ward, Hải Dương province. It’s about nearly 20 kilometres from our home and it’ll take 15
minutes to go there. We plan to arrive at that place in the morning. We will bring a grill, a little bit of
pre-seasoned food. because we are going to have a BBQ there. On the way go to camping site, we will
go to a supermarket to buy something to drink, soft drinks or beer for example. After we arrive, we will
split up to work. Some will set up tents, some will gather firewood, and some will cook. We decided to
stay here all night and come back on the next day. During the day, we’ll eat and talk and in the
evening, we will light a campfire and play cards together. And of course, I’ll bring my guitar with so if
we wanna sing, I can play it. Near where we gonna camp, there is a very famous temple, so we will
visit it before back home. Above is our short-term travel plan on the weekend.
Topic: FAVOURITE COURSE

Well speaking of the course I’d like to learn, I would like to talk about the drawing class.
There are so many online art and drawing classes that we can take from the comfort of our home, I
decide to choose the paid one, which is the best drawing course on Udemy with 5 star review and large
amount of students already enrolled, start on 20 th January. This course imparts learners with a deep
understanding of the fundamentals of drawing from the ground up. First, students are taught the basic
knowledge of drawing like shape, line, form fundamentals or how to use value and contrasts and the
way to use them to create their own drawing. Then, the course moves to how to space and perspective
in art works and how keep persective from different angles. After that, students can get to learn how to
create textures. Although my major í finance, after I graduate, I want to work in graphic design or some
works related to drawing or design.

Topic: WAY OF KEEPING IN TOUCH

Well, it depends on whether my friends or my family live close by or far away from me. If they live
close by within walking distance, then I try to contact them physically. But if they live far away from
me, a 100 kilometres for example, I try to contact them either by phone or emails ỏ by social media.
