MAINTENANCE SPECIFICATIONS
SAFETY NOTES
1. Inspect proximity switches, cables, Junction boxes and glands for EXD integrity
4. Pin out lockout switch and ensure motor will not start.
Inspect the commutator. The commutator should have a polished, slightly brown surface under
the brushes. (See figure/drawing 1)
5. Note: Never use emery cloth on a commutator. The abrasive particles not only scratch the
surface, but are conductive and lodge between the commutator segments. This leads to short
circuits
6. Isolate motor and Check brushes for freedom of movement and frayed or broken tails
8. Check brush holders springs for any broken once. (See figure/drawing 2)
Check clearance between brush holder and commutator (1.5 – 2.0 mm). (See figure/drawing

10. Check for excessive dirt, oil, or carbon build-up.

14. Megger DC Motor Main field coil. (Lift all Carbon brushes.)
23. Make sure panel is clean and dry and the panel heater is on.
