Semi-detailed Lesson Plan in Math IV

I. Objectives
At the end of the 45-minute discussion, the students should be able to:
 Differentiate prime from composite factors
 Identify the factors of a given up to 100
 Work collaboratively and participate to group activities
II. Subject Matter
A. Topic: Addition and Subtraction of Similar Fractions
B. Reference: K-12 Grade 4 Curriculum, Math Grade 4 pages 115-117
C. Materials: PPT Presentation, Flashcard, Cartolina, LM Math grade 4

III. Procedure
A. Routine Activities
a. greetings

c. classroom management
d. attendance
e. drill
Pairing Game. Have a drill on a basic addition fact. Use flashcard or window card.
Encourage pupils to answer with speed and accuracy.

B. Review
Have a review on changing fraction into lowest terms.
Ask the students to give an example.

What is a prime number?


 A prime number is a number which has exactly two factors i.e. '1' and the number itself.

What are the examples of a prime number? Why?


 3, 5, 7 is an example of a prime number because it has only 2 factors which are 1 and
the number itself

Show the list of prime numbers from numbers 1-100

What is a composite number?


 the composite number is a number that has more than two factors.

Can you give some examples of a composite numbers?


 4,6,8,9 are example of composite numbers because it has more than two factors.

Show the list of composite numbers from numbers 1-100

E. Generalization
Summarize the lesson by asking: What is a prime number? What is a composite
number? How do you determine whether a number is a prime or composite number?

A prime number is a number with only two factors: one and itself.
The composite number is a number with three or more factors.
The number of factors determines whether a number is prime or
composite.

See the value of acceptance and belongings in dealing to others.

G. Application

Present this task to the class.
