You are going to see images of five cities and their landmarks. Write a
paragraph describing each city and country it belongs and the landmark shown.
Use the vocabulary from the box for the descriptions. The first one is done for
you as an example. / A continuación verá imágenes de cinco ciudades y sus
lugares representativos. Escriba un párrafo describiendo cada ciudad, el país al
que pertenece y el lugar mostrado. Use el vocabulario dentro del recuadro para

New York is a big city in the

United States (North
America). It takes thousand
of visitors every year. The city
has a population of around 8
million people. There is a lot
to see and do in New York.
You can visit the Central
Park, the Metropolian
museum and Time’s Square.
In the picture you can see the
Statue of Liberty, a monumet
built between 1875 and 1986.
It is 93 meters tall. The statue

Rome (Italy) – Saint Peter’s Square
Sydney (Australia) – The Sydney Opera
House
St. Peter's Square is one of
the most beautiful and largest
squares in the world. It is
located in the Vatican, at the
foot of St. Peter's Basilica.
The dimensions of the square
are spectacular: 320 meters
long and 240 meters wide.
St. Peter's Square was built
between 1656 and 1667.
The impressive Sydney Opera
House, known worldwide for
its shell-shaped roof, is not
only the icon of the city of
Sydney, but of Australia as a
whole. This modern building,
declared a World Heritage Site
in 2007 by UNESCO.
The modern building, 185
meters long and about 120
meters wide, rests on 580
sunken pillars from a depth of
up to 25 meters below sea
level. Its power supply has a
capacity equivalent to the
electricity consumption of a
city of 25,000 people.

Dubai (United Arab Emirates) – The Burj
Khalifa
Edinburgh Castle is an
ancient fortress built on
volcanic rock located in the
center of the city of
Edinburgh, Scotland.
Although human remains
exist since the Iron Age, the
first a castle was built during
the reign of David I 1124-1153
and continued as a royal
residence until 1633. It is
located at the top of Castle
Rock Street, one of the four
streets that form the Royal
Mile.
The most iconic structure on
Dubai's skyline: Burj Khalifa
and also the tallest building
on the entire planet standing.
Designed by architect Adrian
Smith, a tower is the tallest in
the world since 2010.
Its construction began on
September 21, 2004 and was
completed on October 1,
2009. It officially opened on
January 4, 2010. It is
surrounded by luxurious five-
