1. Analyze the case
In this case study the board of director of a company decided to setup their marketing
Department separately and Mr. Ramchandran who is CEO has been appointed by BOD to
select the person who will be the head of marketing department. Mr. Ramchandran has
limited
the field down to two potential decisions Rajesh Mehta and Pramod Kumar from which they
have to choose head of department. As Rajesh Mehta has a decent reputation with the
organization. He was contracted eight years back and during that time he has demonstrated a
decent arrangement of drive and activity in the majority of his undertakings. Mehta is
additionally credited with tolerating full obligation, in all cases and settling on snappy
choices
when activity is called for. Pramod Kumar has been with the organization for a long time. He
is
all around preferred by all in his area of expertise and his work is top notch. Kumar's
administration style contrasts from Mehta's in that Kumar isn't as forceful and fast to go
about as
Mehta. Before Kumar settles on a choice, he by and large counsels other people who he feels
can
contribute additional data on a given subject. This frequently incorporates the individuals
who
work under him.

2. If you were Mr. Ramchandran, whom would you select as the

head of the Marketing Department? Why?
I think Pramod Kumar would be a better option because as he is a leader who consult his
employees before making any decision which is motivating factor for employees who work
under him and this leads to increase their performance which will then improve overall
marketing department performance. Also, Pramod is with the organization for 11 years so he
must know the organization better than Rajesh Mehta.

3. Will you give any weightage to the length of service in the

organization? Why?
I would definitely give importance to length of service as Employees who have been with the
company for many years have considerable knowledge of the company’s culture and its
products and services. They have experienced many changes within the workplace, and
consequently understand what works and what doesn’t. In performing their job duties day
after day, they develop a strong knowledge base, which results in higher productivity because
fewer mistakes are made.
