Reenvisioned Game Title

Zoombinis: Algebra Take Me Home

1. How many players are needed for your game? (does this vary?)
2-4 is better for an excellent playing experience.
2. What is the objective (game goal) for your game?
Help Zoombinis escape from the evil Bloats to get their new home Zoombiniville (88th
box) by calculating numbers with the number and operator cards.
3. What is the background information about your game? (setting, characters, history,
or other details that give the player a sense of what the game will be about)
Setting: little Zoombinis’s home were occupied by evil Bloats. Zoombinis need go for
a new home. There are five kinds of Zoombinis character. Players need role play as a
Zoombinis to go for a new home.
4. How is the game board or cards set up to play?
One board. Character cards. Number card deck. Operator card deck. Development cards
deck.
5. How is the first player selected? (this is incredibly important to establish — while
seasoned gamers will automatically come up with a way if none are presented,
novice players will not)
When everything is set up, players will draw three number cards and two operator cards.
Players will calculate a number using the cards they have. (They don’t have to use all
cards they have. If they don’t use operator card, they can move a number card.) Players
who calculate a larger number will move first.
6. What steps (actions) does the first player take from the start of their round to the
end of their round?
Players will draw two number cards and one operator card to calculate a number on
their own. And they move the number they calculate and discard the cards they used
back to card deck. If they arrive at an event box, they need do what event said.
7. What constraints (gameplay rules) are presented as the player goes through their
round?
They need draw cards and calculate a number to move on board. If they meet an event
box or reward or punishment box, they need do what box said.
8. After the first player, which player goes next? (if more than two players, do you
use counterclockwise or clockwise to determine the order of players?)
The sequence of players depends on the first number they calculate at the beginning of
game. If they have a same number, they need have a turn of “rock, paper, scissors” to
decide who will go first.
9. How does the game end?
When one player get the Zoombiniville (88th box), this player wins the game and game
ends.
10. How does a player win the game? (this is dependent on our 3 Cs of gaming —
cooperative, collaborative, competitive)
This is a kind of competitive board game. Only one play who arrives at the last box ---
Zoombiniville will win the game. Except for that, players have chances to collaborate
with other players to trade cards for their need. A player calculates numbers by
analyzing how many boxes (s)he need move on board by using number cards and
operator cards (s)he has. When one player arrives at the last box---Zoombiniville, (s)he
wins the game and game ends.
