Little Red Riding Hood

Name: _________________________
© Fun With Mama

Once upon a time there was a little girl who was loved by
everyone, especially her grandmother. Her grandmother
gave her a little riding hood of red velvet. The girl loved
this hood and would not wear anything else, so she
became known as Little Red Riding Hood.

One day, when grandmother was ill, Little Red Riding

Hood’s mother asked her to take a basket of
goodies to her.

Little Red Riding Hood’s mother told her to walk

nicely and quietly and not to leave the path.

Little Red Riding Hood told her mother that she

would do as she said and off she went down the
path to her grandmother’s house.

To get to grandmother’s house, Little Red Riding Hood

had to walk through a wood. When she entered this
wood, Little Red Riding Hood met a wolf.

”Good day,” said the wolf.

“Thank you, wolf,” said Little Red Riding Hood. She
did not know that he was a wicked creature.
© Fun With Mama

“Where are you going so early?” asked the wolf.

“To my grandmother’s house,” replied Little Red
Riding Hood.

© Fun With Mama

© Fun With Mama

“What do you have in your basket?” asked the wolf.

“Some goodies for my grandmother as she is ill,”
Little Red Riding Hood said.
© Fun With Mama

“Where does your grandmother live?” the wolf

inquired.
“Farther in the woods, under three large oak trees,”
Little Red Riding Hood told the wolf.

The wolf walked beside Little Red Riding Hood for a

while, all the time thinking what a nice plump
mouthful the girl would make.
© Fun With Mama

The wolf showed Little Red Riding Hood all the lovely
flowers. “Suppose I take some fresh flowers to
grandmother, they would cheer her up,” thought
Little Red Riding Hood, and she left the path to pick
a bunch of lovely flowers.

© Fun With Mama

Meanwhile, the wolf ran off, straight to the

grandmother’s house. He knocked on the door.
“Who is there?” called grandmother.
© Fun With Mama

“Little Red Riding Hood,” replied the wolf. “I have

some goodies for you.”
“Lift the latch and come in. I am too weak to get
up,” Grandmother called out.

© Fun With Mama

© Fun With Mama

The wolf opened the door and ran straight into

grandmother’s bedroom and devoured her. He
dressed himself in her clothes and cap and laid in
her bed.

After Little Red Riding Hood had gathered all the

flowers she could carry, she remembered her
grandmother and set out on the path again.

© Fun With Mama

On arriving at her grandmother’s house, Little Red

Riding Hood was surprised to see the front door
open. She walked inside and called out, “Good
morning.”
© Fun With Mama

She received no answer, so she headed into her

grandmother’s bedroom. There she saw her
grandmother, looking strange, with her cap pulled
far over her face.

© Fun With Mama

© Fun With Mama

“Oh! Grandmother, what big ears you have!” she cried.

”All the better to hear you with, my child,” was the reply.
“But, grandmother, what big eyes you have! said Little
Red Riding Hood.
© Fun With Mama

“All the better to see you with, “was the reply.

“Grandmother, what large hands you have!”
exclaimed the child.
“All the better to hug you with,” came the reply.

© Fun With Mama

© Fun With Mama

“Oh, grandmother. What a terrible big mouth you

have!” exclaimed Little Red Riding Hood.
“All the better to eat you with!” replied the wolf
before he bounded out of the bed and swallowed up
the girl.
© Fun With Mama

After satisfying his appetite, the wolf, laid on the

bed to rest. He fell asleep, snoring very loudly.

© Fun With Mama

© Fun With Mama

A huntsman was passing the house and heard the

loud snoring. ”She is snoring very loudly. I should she
if she wants anything,” he said to himself.
© Fun With Mama

He went inside and saw the wolf laying in the bed.

It occurred to the huntsman that the wolf may have
eaten grandmother, so he took a pair of scissors
and began to cut open the stomach of the sleeping
wolf.

© Fun With Mama

© Fun With Mama

After a few snips, a scared Little Red Riding Hood

jumped out. He kept going and soon grandmother
came out alive too. Little Red Riding Hood collected
some stones and placed them in the wolf’s belly
before stitching it up again.
© Fun With Mama

When the wolf woke up, he tried to move but his

belly was too heavy. He collapsed and passed
away.
Little Red Riding Hood though to herself, “I will listen
to my mother and never leave the path again.”
