Dear Colleagues:

I am writing this letter to support the application of Ms. Yixuan SONG for your XXX programme.
I taught Ms. SONG two courses (Criminal Case Law and Procuratorial Practice) during her
undergraduate years. Ms. SONG got good grades in both courses. I got to know Ms. SONG more
because of her enthusiasm and passion for studying criminology and becoming a legal practitioner.
As I am a well-seasoned educational professional with some background in criminology, and have
reasonable understanding about what it takes to be a competent legal practitioner in the social
context of China, Ms. SONG consulted with me concerning her career plan and aspirations, and
discussed with me about her enthusiasm and motivation in pursuing further study in criminology
and future career in law popularization works. Through these discussions and exchanges, I have a
good understanding of Ms. SONG as an aspiring graduate student, of her professional aspirations,
and of her as a person. With such understanding, I believe that I am in a good position to write a
support letter for this fine young lady, for her plan to pursue graduate study in the area of
Criminology.

Ms. SONG has finished her bachelor’s degree of Law in Ningbo University two years ago. She
has received excellent training from a variety of legal related courses, including Criminal Law,
Criminology, Security Law, Marriage & Family Law, Civil Law, Tax Law, International Law, and
so on. I taught her two courses, Criminal Case Law and Procuratorial Practice, and I could see her
interest in Criminal Law. For example, she usually sat in the front row of criminal law classes.
Once, she gave a speech on computer crime, which was rarely discussed by students in previous
years. Therefore, I was deeply impressed by her novel and original views on the topic. In her
paper on prosecution practice, she wrote about a current hot issue and analyzed the right of
reputation by combining it with modern technology, from which I can see her thinking flexibility.
From my discussions and exchanges with Ms. SONG, it became obvious to me that she has the
passion for criminology, and she is determined to pursue a career in this area. To pursue a master’s
degree in this area is the important step that she is taking for her planned professional career of
legal works in the future.

Ms. SONG is a highly motivated and hard-working young lady with great passion for her planned
career. After graduation, she practiced in the criminal court for a period. She would always discuss
with me the complicated diseases she encountered in actual cases and actively ask me to
recommend some public accounts and books for her study in this field. Ms. SONG has great

intellectual capacity,

a clear focus on law popularization as her future career, and great passion and motivation for
pursuing a master’s degree in criminology for laying the foundation for her planned professional
career. I believe that these traits are critical for her successful study for a master’s degree in your
XXX programme. I have every reason to believe that Ms. SONG will be an excellent graduate
student in your master program, and she will be successful in her future professional pursuits in
her master programme study and beyond.
