Operating procedure for Auto Change-Over panel, model BM55-2U

1.0 Starting Up
1.1 Close valve VL1, VL2, VR1 and VR2.
1.2 Connect 2 full cylinder of gas to the auto changer over panel, with one on each side of the panel.
1.3 Open valve VL3 and VR3 slowly.
1.4 Check for leak at the cylinder connector with soap solution.

2.0 Purging
2.10 To purge the left side of the system.
2.11 Close valve VL1, VL2 and VL3.
2.12 Open and close valve VL1 to release any residue gas in the left pig tail.
2.13 Open and close valve VL3 to charge up the left pig tail with process gas.
2.14 Open and close valve VL1 to evacuate the gas in the left pig tail.
2.15 Repeat steps 2.13 and 2.14 for 3 to 5 cycle.

2.20 To purge the right side of the system.

2.21 Close valve VR1, VR2 and VR3.
2.22 Open and close valve VR1 to release any residue gas in the left pig tail.
2.23 Open and close valve VR3 to charge up the left pig tail with process gas.
2.24 Open and close valve VR1 to evacuate the gas in the left pig tail.
2.25 Repeat steps 2.23 and 2.24 for 3 to 5 cycle.

3.0 Withdrawing Gas From The Auto Change Over System

3.1 Open valve VL3 and VR3 after carrying out purging sequences.
3.2 Open valve VL2 and VR2. The true pressure of the gas cylinder should be indicated on the left and right pressure gauge on the panel.
The auto change is now supplying clean gas to the process and the outlet pressure is indicated by
the gauge located in the center of the panel.
The primary supply side is indicated by the arrow in the center of the panel. That is to say, if the withdrawal
arrow is pointing to the left side, the left cylinder will supply first and when the left cylinder is
depleted, the system will automatically withdraw gas from the reserve cylinder without disruption to
gas flow or having to swing the handle.
The same applies to the right side if the withdrawal arrow is pointing to the right.
It does not matter whether the handle is in the up or down position when starting up.

4.0 Changing out depleted gas cylinder.

The depleted gas cylinder on the “withdrawal” side needs to be replaced before the reserve side
is depleted.
4.1 The depleted gas cylinder is also shown by the reading on the respective pressure gauge.
Swing the handle down if the left side is depleted or up if the right side is depleted.
Close valve VL2 (or VR2) and VL3 (or VR3) of the depleted side.
4.2 Open and close VL1 (or VR1) to release residual gas in the pig tail of the depleted side.
4.3 Change out the depleted gas cylinder and open the cylinder valve slowly. Check for leak with soap solution.
4.4 Carry out purge cycle as stated in 2.10 (or 2.20)
4.5 Open valve VL2 (or VR2) after completing the purge cycle.
