Black screen. Sounds of a pair of loose chappals slapping
over the ground, slowly transitions into a track of two legs
running quickly.

EXT. FOOD STALL - LATE MORNING

A 25 year old dark skinned gentleman, Navin, dressed in

formals has a plate of 3 dosas in his hand. He is biting
small pieces of the Dosa, and there is no chutney on his
plate. He is visibly sweaty and is wearing a Bluetooth
headset. A Honda Dio is parked next to the food stall.

The FM is on, and an RJ is speaking about the next day being

the republic day, and how India has crossed 75 years as a
republic.

The owner is standing idle. Navin and the owner look at each
other silently.

STALL OWNER
He's here.

Sandeep, a 17 year old north Indian helper runs into the

frame quickly with a bag carrying a container. He stops with
a jerk, and rests for a few seconds panting. Navin picks up
his phone, and dials someone as he loosely holds his plate.

The owner picks up a spoon and throws it over the counter

towards Sandeep.

STALL OWNER
Hey, take out the chutney.

Sandeep quickly recovers back to up, and unpacks the

container and reaches for the spoon, and walks toward Navin.

NAVIN(OVER PHONE)
Is he there yet?...

Sandeep accidently trips over a stone and pours chutney over

Navin's shirt. Navin is enraged. He drops his plate down,
and stares at Sandeep.

NAVIN(YELLING)
Come pour some more into my pocket.

Navin stands there with his hand over his forehead.

SANDEEP
Sorry Anna.

Navin looks at his phone, and looks at the time.

2.

NAVIN(TO THE PHONE MIC)

I'm coming.

Navin pays the bill, rushes to his bike and leaves. Sandeep
picks up the plate from the ground.

STALL OWNER(TO SANDEEP)

Where do you have your eyes? Behind
your head? Can't you at-least pour
the chutney properly?

Sandeep is exhausted. Closeup of Sandeep's empty face.

MATCH CUT TO:

Naveen's face is unveiled as he removes his helmet.

INT. OFFICE BASEMENT - MOMENTS LATER

Navin rushes from his bike towards the elevator with his
Bluetooth earphones on. Someone calls him from behind. The
music from his headphone makes the voice inaudible.

The voice is louder the second time, and Navin turns to find
his boss behind. He pulls out his earphones.

NAVIN'S BOSS
Wow! you seem to be in a rush to
reach our office after seeing me?

NAVIN'S BOSS
This is not your father's grocery
shop Navin. For you to come and go
as you please.

NAVIN
No sir.

Navin's boss stares at Navin, as he remains silent.

NAVIN'S BOSS
Go home. Come back tomorrow on
time.

He walks away from him, towards the lift, and Navin follows
him.

The boss Stops, turns behind, and stares at Navin.

NAVIN'S BOSS
Go Home.. Don't step into my
office. I might fire you.
3.

He stares at Navin, for a few seconds and walks back. Navin

stays there paused.

CUT TO:

Shots of the three people in a montage. Sandeep, Navin, and

his boss in order. Sandeep is sitting over a stone, lost and
speechless in a deep thought. Navin rubs his hands over his
face as he is sitting on his bike. The boss in his office is
relaxing, using his phone, and finally looking at a gift on
his table.

The Gift is a monthly planner with the caption " 75 years

since we became a republic- 80 years as a company, Kavitha
Plywoods"
