Re: Application to the Post of Director Peace Fund Secretariat (1088)

Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to express my interest in the post of Director Peace Fund Secretariat in the African
Union Commission that was advertised on organization’s website as the suitable candidate. I am
an adult Rwandan with more than 20 years of experience, in leadership and managerial positions
both in public and private institutions. Eleven out of seventeen years I served in public sector,
was in senior level leadership positions which I am certain that, the acquired skills and
experience gives me a competitive edge and the necessary tools to execute my duties when given
chance.
I served as the Director of Human Resources Administration (HR&A) in one of the biggest
organizations in Rwanda (Rwanda Revenue Authority). My roles as the Director for HR&A
among others were negotiation, recruitment, placement, development, evaluation, remuneration
and talent retention among others. I also served as the Deputy Commissioner in charge of Tax
and Customs compliance, a post that widened my scope from national to regional and
international level exposure as shown by my curriculum vitae here attached.
I am academically qualified with a Bachelor’s degree in Management and a Master of Business
Administration (MBA) - Project Management. I have also had relevant short term courses in
Leadership, Human Resources Management, Accounting, Quality Management to mention
among others that enhanced my skills in the areas of people and organizational management.
When I phased out my contract with the Tax administration, I started working as an independent
consultant and a trainer which continued to enhance my hands-on skills in transfer of knowledge
negotiation, leadership and capacity development.
I am a flexible individual and able to work harmoniously in a multi-cultural and diverse
environment which I attribute to many years of experience in leadership and management
positions.
I love challenging tasks for it gives an opportunity for one to unleash the potential in me. I hope
this summary showcases my work abilities in relation to the job advertised.
