Supply and Demand
• In a capitalist economy, prices are determined by supply and demand. Supply is the amount of
goods and services available at a particular time.

Inflation
• If there is too much demand and not enough supply, then inflation can result.
• Inflation is a general rise in prices. A little inflation is to be expected, but too much can start a
spiraling effect in which prices rise so rapidly that a country’s currency loses its value.
