L’
enjeu de ce numéro de Sciences de la Société
est de pointer certaines difficultés liées à la production de savoirs communs
entre des communautés linguistiques et disciplinaires différentes. Sans
prétendre apporter une réponse définitive aux questions soulevées, ce numéro
propose de les surmonter via un travail de coédition entre un laboratoire
français (LERASS, Toulouse) et québécois (LOG, Montréal) et via la publication
de certains articles dans les deux langues. Le thème retenu est celui des
organisations, ou plutôt, comme nous le verrons, de l’organizing1.
Au début des années 2010, le dialogue entre ces différentes approches est
plus vif que jamais et animait en 2012 plusieurs colloques internationaux en
communication et en gestion (International Communication Association,
European Group of Organization Studies3). Un travail de définition,

« L’argument central est que toute organisation est la manière même par
laquelle elle passe par des processus organisants […]. L’organisation est une
chose fluide, en changement continu, qui exige d’être constamment réaccom-
plie, et qui nous apparait comme une entité seulement lorsque cette fluidité
est figée à un moment précis dans le temps. Cela entraîne que nous devons
définir l’organisation [organization] en terme de processus organisants
[organizing] ». (p.!90-91, traduction libre, italique dans l’original).

démarches de recherche prenant leurs distances avec des catégories pré-construites issues des pratiques
professionnelles telles que la communication inter/externe, hiérarchique/transversale…(Bernard, 2002).

Cette question est toujours au cœur des débats actuels (Putnam et Nicotera,
2009! ; Robichaud et Cooren, 2013). Peut-on dire par exemple qu’une
organisation «! change! » si ses textes (qui la stabilisent) et ses
«! conversations! » (qui la font vivre) n’évoluent pas en interdépendance
(Taylor, 1993)! ? Comment comprendre les «! processus de
dislocation! /recomposition des différents niveaux de structuration des
organisations!» (Le Moenne, 2000) sans mettre la normativité de l’écriture
(Cochoy, Garel et De Terssac, 1998! ; De La Broise et Grosjean, 2010! ;
Douyère, 2010) et la performativité de la parole (Denis, 2006 ; Gramaccia,
2001) au centre de l’analyse!(Delcambre, 2010!; Fraenkel, 2006) ?
Les mêmes problématiques animent aussi les débats tenus au sein des
approches gestionnaires et sociologiques du! «!langage au travail!» (Giroux
et Giordano, 1988!; Chanlat et Bedard, 1990!; Girin, 1990!; Pène, Borzeix et
Fraenkel, 2001!; Giroux, Marroquin, 2005). Elles mettent l’accent sur le rôle
de l’écriture et de l’oralité (Grosjean et Lacoste, 1998!; Fraenkel, 2006), et
éclairent le dualisme du management contemporain! : le despotisme doux
(Courpasson, 2000) des mots/maux de la gestion (Gouadain, 2001),
l’idéologie du rendre compte (Boussard, 2001!;!Dumez, 2008) mais aussi les
ressources langagières, discursives et communicationnelles sur lesquelles se
développent de nouvelles compétences interorganisationnelles (Arnaud,
2008 ; Arnaud, Mills, 2012), stratégiques (Rouleau, Allard-Poesi, Warnier,
2007!; Fauré, Rouleau, 2011).
Chacun11 des articles publiés dans ce numéro éclaire une des problématiques
récentes des approches communicationnelles, discursives ou langagières des
organisations en mobilisant/discutant/retravaillant un concept, une théorie ou
une méthodologie issue d’une autre discipline (sociologie du travail, gestion,
sociolinguistique, politique).
Sylvie Grosjean analyse les savoirs en action élaborés par des consultants
lors de réunions de rapport d’audit en confrontant les approches gestionnaires
des savoirs pratiques (Gherardi, 2000) et les approches constitutives des
