Reason
Origin: the Caribbean carnivals of the early 19th century were
like a safe place for black people to dance and have a party,
thereafter to improve the treatment of black people.
Nowadays, it's a carnival to bring together different nationalities and also an
occasion for African-Caribbean communities in the UK to commemorate the
abolition of slavery, to celebrate their own cultures and identities.

Preparing
Before the festival, volunteer groups - Carnivalist will prepare
for over a year; people making their own colourful carnival
costumes, masks, and hats with feathers, glitter, sequins, etc.

Parade
The parade moves its way around the
areas between Westbourne Park,
Ladbroke Grove, and Notting Hill
tube stations. You can contemplate
colourful carnival costumes with
feathers, listen to bands playing and
watch carnival dance.
