Present Tense
Simple present Tense
1. Present situation
Ashwin reads a book.
2. Truth or universal fact
Sun rises in the east.
The earth revolves around the sun.
3. Habits or daily routine
I brush every morning.
Sheena and Reena brush every morning
Sheena brushes every morning.
I bath twice a day.
Present Continuous
The action is going on.
Helping verb + main verb + ing
I am eating
Singular – is + main v +ing
Plural – are + main v + ing
Sheena is reading a book
Sheena and Reena are reading a book.
Present perfect tense
Something that has just happened
I have drunk my milk already.
Nancy has just arrived.
We have done the work.
Something that began in the past and
continues in the present.
Nancy has lived here since she was born.
An action where the time is important.
Nacy has already read the book.
Simple Past tense
Verb + ‘d’ or ‘ed’
Dance – danced
Nancy had read the book
Past continuous
Helping v +main v + ing
Was - singular
Were – plural
Simple Future tense
Will + m. verb
Sheena will read the book.
Shall + verb
Future continuous
Sheena will be playing the game.
Will be + main verb + ing
Past perfect
It tells us about an event that happened in the
past before another event that happened in
the past.
Daniel had left by the time Elsa had reached
home.
