Last time we discussed about problem solving. As a sort of review
what is problem solving?
B. Lesson Proper
1. Motivation
(What have you seen in the picture?)

2. Presentation
What have you done has something to do with our topic this
morning which is solving problem using organized list strategy. And
at the end of the lesson you should be able to solve a problem
using organized list strategy.

3. Discussion

Organized List Strategy – can be defined as an orderly table


of numeric or descriptive data used to solve a problem or an
ordered planto solve a problem.

Examples:
1. Liz has 3 posters that she wants to put on her door, but only
2 will fit, one above the other. One is yellow, one is pink,
and one is blue. How many different ways can she arrange
the posters?
2. Abby, Liz and Bonnie are lining up for their turn at the
bazaar’s fishing game. How many different ways can they
stand in line?

4. Practice Exercise
1. Pick any two items for 50.00.
 Cup of soap
 Sandwich
 Salad
 Bowl of Chili

How many different ways can you order lunch for 50.00?

2. Doug has 2 pairs of pants: a black pair and a green pair. He


has 4 shirts: a white shirt, a red shirt, a grey shirt, and a
striped shirt. How many different outfits can he put
together?

What are the questions used in problem solving?

6. Application
Group yourselves into 2 groups by counting 1-2. I will give each group
several problems and you need answer it and after that choose a
leader to present and explain your works.

1. Sara is taking pictures of Christina, Michael and Joseph. She


asks them “How many different ways could you three stand
in a line?”
2. Thomas is making three layered candles. He is using red,
green, and blue wax. How many different ways can he
arrange the three colors in the candles?
IV. Evaluation
Solve a problem using organized list strategy.
Tom bought a new cell phone. He wants to use a three digit pin
code to keep his phone locked. He decides to use the three digits 1,2,3
and will randomly choose how to order the digits. Each digit can be
used more than once?
