Pharmaceutical Calculations

 Specific gravity = Ws/ Ww

Ws- Weight of substance, Ww- Weight of an equal volume of water.

 Density = Weight (g) / Volume (mL)

 Weight = Density x Volume
 Volume = Weight/ Density

1lb (pound) = 454g

1kg = 1000g
1g = 1000mg
1mg = 1000mug
1mug = 10^-6 g
1 teaspoon = 5ml

 Y = a^x LogaY = x
 Log (25)^12 = 12log25

Henderson- Hasselbalch equations:

For weak acids: log (Ci/Cu) = pH – pK
For weak bases: log (Cu/Ci) = pH – pK

Apothecary conversions:
 20gr = 1

 3 = 1 
 1gr (avoir) = 1gr (apoth)
 1gr = 64.8 mg

 1fz = 29.6 mL
