has released their latest Speedtest Global Index for September 2021, showing
that the Philippines’ average mobile internet download speed is at 35.03 Mbps, while
the average fixed broadband download speed is at 71.85 Mbps.

With that results the Philippines now ranked at 72nd when It comes to average download
speed for mobile internet and for fixed broadband it jumps down to 64th place.

For mobile, the Philippines now ranks at 72nd with an average download speed of
35.03 Mbps, an average upload speed of 8.54 Mbps, and a latency of 32ms. As for its
Fixed Broadband speeds, the Philippines rank jumps down at 64 and has an average
download speed of 71.85 Mbps, an upload speed of 70.32 Mbps, and a latency of
19ms.
The average internet speed in the country has been challenged due to the lack of
network infrastructures over the years.

The Philippines have been steadily improving but it has a long way to go when
compared to UAE’s mobile download speed of 238.06 Mbps and Monaco’s Fixed
Broadband download speed of 261.82 Mbps.

download speed for mobile internet, and 64th in terms of fixed broadband.
What is the fastest internet service provider by download speed of the Philippines?

The chart shows that The Smart Communications had the fastest internet speed of the
Philippines as of July 2021, with 47.52 Mbps and PLDT is the second fastest internet
service provider.

As of July 2021, Smart Communications provided the fastest internet speed of 47.52
Mbps in the Philippines. PLDT, formerly the Philippine Long Distance Telephone, was
the next fastest internet service provider with an internet download speed of 41.75
Mbps.
Internet quality in the Philippines
The average internet speed in the country has been challenged due to the lack of
network infrastructures over the years. In 2017, the overall internet connection speed in
the Philippines remains among the slowest in the Asia Pacific region. That is despite
having the highest average daily time spent using the internet in the region.
Slow internet connectivity hampers Filipinos in their work, streaming, and downloading
of videos. As of 2019, around 90 percent of the population still had a 2G mobile network
connection on their phones.
The emergence of 5G network
In terms of mobile network connection, the Philippines have slowly adapted to new
infrastructures to boost internet speeds. Most telecommunications companies started
offering devices capable of the fifth generation of broadband mobile cellular network
technology and slowly migrating their subscribers with 2G or 3G connection to 4G and
even 5G connection. Although this type of connection is still limited to urban areas,
developments in this field looks promising to the growing number of internet users in the
country.
