TASK 1: Learning styles reflection

By: Cindy Jiménez Márquez

Two years ago, I participated in a conference about learning and teaching styles, the exponent
made the next comparison: Learners are like a car. If this car has one or more of its tires flat, it
can't run. I understood, that we have to work to acquire all the learning and teaching styles if we
want to get better performance because all of them are necessary to our understanding.

In that conference I knew that my predominant sensory learning style is visual. However, I had a
high-level inclination for auditory, being the kinesthetic my lowest sensory learning. I have to
accept it always has been very hard for me to do activities that include movements, and
coordination, I never get it.

I felt very identified with the biological differences, Biorhythms explain why, I just can study
early in the morning, I can't do it at noon or evening, my brain has better ideas, and It works
faster at this time. About sustenance, when I'm trying to learn new vocabulary, I try to
memorized with food, because I feel like I was eating the knowledge, finally, the location for me
is very important, I like to work in a light, quiet and fresh places.

According to learning strategies, I feel identified with four of them, cognitive, metacognitive,
memory-related, and social learning strategy, because, when We're learning new vocabulary, we
use the memory-related learning strategy. When the teacher uses plays and different
environments to explain a class, He uses the metacognitive learning strategy, and when We use a
mind map to synthesize some text, we use the cognitive learning strategy. For me, they are the
most useful.

TASK 1A: Learning styles reflection

By: Betzi Liliana Daza

The learning style with which I identify the most is the sensory, since it is related to the visual,
auditory and kinesthetic areas, each of these learning styles is important for our strengthening
and growth in the language of English, through the visual style, we stimulate vision and reading
since this is vital to learn to read and capture given information. I also think that learning to
visualize helps us create different relationships between ideas and given concepts.

Through the visual, we understand what they mean, when we watch a movie or read a book we
can understand and be clear about the understanding and teaching of different words which we
are not used to hearing or seeing. Through these tools: songs, videos, recordings, documentaries,
films and videos, we are provided with the learning and knowledge that we want to reach.

Learning styles are essential for both our academic and personal training, learning a new
language opens many doors for us, but we must also be clear that to achieve a new language we
must create strategies that allow us to adapt and focus on learning.

Teaching learning strategies to students is of vital importance for their training, since this
guarantees us effective learning and helps us to promote their teaching.

TASK 1A: Learning styles reflection

By: Rafael Enrique Rangel

Considering that learning styles are the consistent way in which through stimuli we take into
account how we prefer to learn, that is, the educational conditions under which a student is more
likely to learn.

For these reasons I think that I am sensory, because it is related to the visual and auditory areas, I
am very sure that learning where the visual and hearing part are accompanied is enriching.

When I was a kid, and I was studying at school, I remembered a lot about things teachers said,
but especially how they said or talked about some subjects.

Then I remembered them, but it was because of the way and style they placed each of their
words, I think expressions were key points for learning.

While in the visual part, the dynamic strategies used by the teacher were important. Because
some with their body expressions didn't transmit much, while other teachers were much more
dynamic and used videos, games, etc. And sure, of those latter I learned much more.

For these reasons I can say that I am one of the people who find it easier to learn by observing,
because colors or photographs help them learn more easily; while others learn best by reading
and this is their way of studying.
