Student Leadership Formation Program

Prince Joshua T. Sumagit
(President)

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought many changes in our world today. One of

the sectors that had received its repercussions is the education sector. Face-to-face classes has

been haulted for two years already due to the government mandate considering the heath of its

learners and teachers. Leadership trainings and other school activities are organized virtually but

not until the DepEd-Lapu-Lapu City Division thru the Division Memorandum No. 846, s. 2021,

as part of the Learning Continuity Plan of the Department of Education to provide Supreme

Pupil Government and Supreme Student Government officers and advisers a face-to-face

leadership training which was held at the DepEd Training Center last November 15, 2021.

This Leadership training only accommodate SSG President and Vice President of

respective schools from District 1 to 10. The morning session from 8 AM to 12 NN was

allocated for student leaders from District’s 6 to 10 and the afternoon session for District’s 1 to

5. Exactly 8:30 in the morning, the activity started with the singing of the National Anthem,

followed by the Prayer and lastpy the singing of the Lapu-Lapu March. We were also delighted

by the welcome remarks from Mr. Reynold Q. Velos and followed by the inspirational message

from Dr. Cartesa M. Perico. From here on we were cultured with different topics and learnings

about being a student leader. First, Mrs. Mila O. Inot and Ms. Johanna Tampus give us a very

energetic preview about Constitution and By-Laws and Mandated PPA’s. Secondly, Mr. Rove

Jay Tuñacao gives us insights about how to write project proposals and resolutions. After that, a

guest speaker entailed us about Leadership in the New Normal. Lastly, Ms. Raquel Perez gives

us her knowledge about Parliamentary procedures.

The Department of Education-Lapu-Lapu City Division never failed to provide the

necessary help and guidance to its learners even at course of pandemic. Indeed, with the support

of all teachers, parents, and other stakeholders, we always do what is truly right and good for our

school children, baring the mantra, “Para sa Bata, Para sa Bayan.”
