VOCABULARY REVIEW
Read the text and fill in the blanks with a vocabulary word or expression
from this unit or the previous unit.
Follow the example. Sensitive, realize, leave out, turn up, take her mind
off of, in good shape, in the meantime, hope, compete, split up, lonely.
I’m really worried about my sister. She and her boyfriend split up recently,
and she’s depressed about the situation. Personally, I think it’s a good thing:
they were together for several years, but l always told my sister that the two
of them shouldn’t really be together. Still, emotionally, she’s not in good shape.
The problem is that she’s a very sensitive person, and situations like this
always affect her strongly. I try to spend time with her, in order to take her
mind off of her situation, but it’s difficult; the main problem is that she feels
lonely all the time. I hope she meets someone new soon. Of course, in the
meantime, she’ll just have to learn to adapt to her situation. She needs to
realize that it’s important not to rush into a relationship.
