I thought I had the same problem, and these things are helping me.

1. Passion for the topic I am writing about.

I am blogging to solve a personal problem. I read books and in few months down the line I
do not remember what I read. So I started writing book reviews. My target audience is me in
few months time (this also guaranties that my reviews are going to have something
different, a personal touch).

2. Talking to myself.

When I start writing a post, I talk more than I write. I tell myself everything that I want to
write about. I am talking to myself right now. When I read your question I immediately told
you the answer, then I wrote it. For my last post I must have talked it through for at least an
hour before I found the right words (I don't mean I was looking for sophisticated language,
as even if I had it I would not use it in a blog).

Note: I am sure we all talk to ourselves and it doesn't have to be vocal, so do not feel
embarrassed

3. Reading out loud.

By reading what you write out loud, you find mistakes. You find the spots where the
language doesn't flow along with the spelling mistakes.

I don't like reading my own content. I just can't concentrate, So I setup a shortcut on my
macbook where the computer reads the content for me. The bonus being that she spots
every spelling mistake I make.

4. Keep it simple.

I keep hearing that the best writing is the simple writing. Especially for the web, it's logical to
assume that people aren't reading you because of your literary merit but because of what
you are saying. So do not try and use big words.
