This is an in-class test.
You are required to answer two questions to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of international trade and
investmentissues. Please organize your answers before writing them up; and be brief – quality counts, quantity in itself does not.

The questions are:

 While international trade and investment are vital drivers of economic growth, trade and investment relations
are subject to many competing environmental and political forces. Explain and provide examples to justify and
strengthen your answer.

 Within the last few years, the pendulum has swung from substantial economic gains under free trade and
globalisation to growing support for greater trade protection. Discuss using specific examples of trade
agreements that have run smoothly over the past years yet have recently faced more trade restrictions and
barriers. Discuss implications on different parties (countries) involved.
