Importance of assessment – Assessment is vital not just for evaluating students'


proficiency at the end of the course, but also for evaluating the process during the
course so that students may participate directly in and control their own learning, and
teachers can improve their teaching materials and technique. Because a teacher's
evaluation and judgement of his or her students is dependent on data gathered through
these instruments. The inability of traditional assessment methods to effectively
measure pupils' learning has been criticized.

The clarity of learning objectives is one of the most important criteria in high-quality
assessment. If the objectives are clear and attainable, this evaluation can be exact,
accurate, and trustworthy. It starts with specific and appropriate learning objectives
that cover both what students know and can accomplish as well as the criteria used to
assess their achievement, knowledge, reasoning, and talents. Second, consider
appropriateness of assessment methods. It is crucial because the fact that teachers can
utilize a number of approaches to guarantee that a whole assessment is valid and
trustworthy. It's broken down into categories based on the nature and characteristics of
each approach. The four main forms of replies are selected response, created response,
teacher observation, and self-report. Learning goals that are well-matched to
assessment methods are introduced in a new category.
