LESSON PLAN

Teaching Point  Grammar / Speaking: Explaining the grammar rules, how the present continuous of any verb is
composed of two parts: the present tense of the verb to be + the present participle of the main verb
(-ing form)
 How it is used to describe an action taking place while speaking.
Target Language Items A. What are you doing?
a. I am playing with my Play Station.
B. Is she watching Netflix?
b. No, she is not watching Netflix, but Amazon Video.
Main Lesson Aims By the end of this lesson students should be able to:
 Students will know when and in which context they can use the Present Continuous tense.
 Students will learn how to use the present continuous in affirmative, negative, and interrogative
forms.
 Use the present continuous to talk about actions happening at this moment. (Now)
 Improve their language and receptive skills.
Evidence  Students will respond in drills in class, and they will be able to carry out written exercises on
affirmative, negative, and interrogative sentences.
Assumptions  Students are familiar with simple structures (Past Simple, Future Simple), and the Present Simple
form of the verb “to be”.
Anticipated Problems  Students could make mistakes in the negative form, using only the negation "not" without the
present simple of the verb "to be".
 Students could make mistakes in the affirmative form, using only the present simple auxiliary of the
verb “to be” or using the bare infinitive without the -ing form of the verb. (Present participle).
