Exercise 2.

1. Why is it important to know the history of cooperatives in the Philippines?

Cooperatives make a considerable contribution to social integration, employment

development, and poverty alleviation. Because of cooperatives' ability to mobilize savings and
money that may be used as inputs in the creation of goods and services for the less advantaged
sections of society, it also contributes to rapid economic growth.

Understanding the significance of cooperative history is very important. It provides information

that helps us visualize how the cooperative was formed and who provided support and
collaborated to make it happen. It provides us a greater understanding of the cooperative's
past mistakes, which we can use to correct them and build a more efficient cooperative that
will increase productivity in our nation.
