ANEMISM

When the Church engages in conversation with adherents of faiths other than Christianity, the question of
whose opinion matters most: which religions are authentic and deserving of holiness. Is this from the viewpoint
of the Catholic Church, or do honesty and holiness appear to be inherent qualities of the many religions? There is
little doubt that the declaration's intrinsic weaknesses will have an impact on the talks that are supposed to take
place between the Church and indigenous religions.

This reflect on the dialogue that the Church has had with other religions, limiting to indigenous religions
in order to point out that these religions have their own central focus could be eschatological, world-based, or
consciousness-based. If monotheism and universalism are to become the foundation for the sophistication of
cultures, as the Nostra Aetate presumes, then the Church will fail to understand and appreciate the reality that
each culture and religion has its own philosophy and distinctive beauty, which becomes a gift to all of humanity
when it is encountered with respect and dignity.
