synthesize the history of cooperative and its economic impact to the community. Please be

1498 - The Shore Porters Society, founded in Aberdeen, Scotland, in 1498,

claims to be one of the earliest cooperatives in the world. It was a removal, haulage,
and storage company founded by a group of Aberdeen Harbor porters.

1761 - The Fenwick Weavers' Society was founded in 1761 in the Scottish village
of Fenwick. The original objective of the organization was to promote excellence in
the art of weaving, but subsequent activities grew to include bulk purchases of food
and literature

1812 - Focus of the Lennox town group was the running of the bustling Lennox
Mill, where Woodhead estate tenants brought their maize to be ground. The
creation of their maize to be ground. The creation of the calico printing business at
Lennox mill, on a location close to the corn mill, was an additional significant
milestone for the organization. Quickly, the printing of calico and other cotton fabrics
became a major industry in the region

1844 - The Rochdale Society of Equitable Pioneers, established in 1844, was an

existed previously, the Rochdale Pioneers' co-operative became the model for British
organizations
1883 In 1883, Alice Acland, the editor of "Women's Corner" in the newspaper Co-
women's organization within the Cooperative Movement and began creating a
"Woman's League for the Spread of Co-operation."

1917 As a result of the 1917 May Congress of the British co-operative movement
in Swansea, the Co-operative Party was officially established. Located in the political
center of Britain, the Co-operative Party advocates for and promotes cooperative
ideals.

1930 Beginning in the 1930s, electrical cooperatives became a key economic

strategy for rural areas of the United States and have continued to operate
successfully despite natural disasters such as Hurricane Sandy in 2012.

1970 - Beginning in the 1970s, renewable energy cooperatives in Europe were


crucial to the early development of wind power in Denmark.

1892 – Rizal's La Sociedad de los Abacaleros was an important organization he


founded (Society of Abaca Producers). After a detour to Sandakan, Borneo in 1892,
Rizal proposed a colony based on the cooperative principles of Robert Owen to
Governor Despudol. Instead, he was charged with treason and exiled to the town of
Dapitan in the province of Zamboanga del Norte. Rizal's hopes for a cooperative
society were realized to some extent in Dapitan. He and his students worked
together to build a school for the underprivileged neighborhood and a small store to
serve the neighborhood's residents.
1900 - Beginning with Raiffeisen's founding of a self-help union in the early 19th
century, this article traces the evolution of the Raiffeisen Movement of agricultural
cooperation in West Germany to its status as a massive, influential organization

1916 - The Bureau of Agriculture is responsible for enforcing the provisions of


the Rural Credit Law, and the Agricultural Credit Cooperative Association in
Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija was the first rural credit association to be established in
accordance with the law.
