1.What globalization means for the Philippines?

In the Philippines, globalization has been extremely successful. Since 1995, when

the Philippines participated in the signing of agreements with the World Trade

Organization, the economy has undergone significant changes. The nation has seen

changes, including an increase in employment and the number of businesses that have

arisen to support the economy. Since the United States' influence during World War II,

globalization has been fast advancing in the Philippines. But unfortunately, on this day

globalization makes the already desperate situation of the majority of people from the

Philippines worsen. The effects of globalization on people's lives and means of

subsistence are extensive. The bad consequences outnumber the favorable ones,

despite the fact that it has some good ones as well. Millions of Filipinos are sent to work

overseas where there is a scarcity of domestic, skilled, and professional workers. This is

due to fundamental changes in the country ’s economic growth that have led to

underemployment and unemployment. Due to globalization, multi-national corporations

now operate high-tech mining, fishing, and export businesses on indigenous peoples'

traditional lands, water, and rice fields. While indigenous peoples migrate to survive,

farmers and fishermen go without, go hungry, and are largely in debt.
