Preparation of Au-SiO2 NPs using oleylamine reeducation.

1- Add Au salt “MW: 357.371 g/mol” to O-Xyelene (142.948 mg in 10 ml)

2- Add oleylamine “MW: 267.5 g/mol” , then stir the mix for one hour at 80 C using oil bath at stirring

3- Reflux the mix for 6 h and then leave the mix on stirrer overnight at room temperature.
4- According to our reference, coating with IGEPAL happed with a molar ration 1:30 NPs: Igepal
5- The mix was left on bath sonication for 15-20 min to assure good mixing and then left on stirring for
two days.
6- TEOS was then added to the mix under stirring with a molar ratio 1: 22.5 NPs: Final used Weights:

7- 0.210 ml of 20 % NH4OH was added to the mix under stirring 5 mg 460.78 mg 21.22 mg
8- The mix was left on stirring over night to form Au-SiO2 on room temperature.

Preparation of PS-P2VP Micelles.” different concentrations were tried out and characterized by DLS and
STEM”
1- Add 4.2 mg of the polymer into 1 ml of O-Xyelene
2- Leave the mix overnight to solubilize and form micelles.
Substates were cleaned first by using ETOH in bath sonication for 10 min and then same time in water
and finally in iso-propanol. Lastly, we clean the substrates in plasma chamber for 10 min to be ready and
active for coating step.
Coating the micelles onto the substrate was done by adding 30 µl of the micelles into the previously cleaned
Si substrates for 60 sec.

For THF annealing step, it has been performed in different times and we concluded that 10 min is
suitable for annealing.
For immersing the substrate coated with micelles after annealing in gold NPS, we also tried different
concentration and different times and we found some aggregation problems ,that is why we shifted from
using NPs to using Au sat directly.
