1. WHY CAN YOU CONTRIBUTE TO THE PUBLICATION?

- With all honesty, I am aware that I lack the skills and experience to actively participate in
journalism. From elementary to high school, I have missed every opportunity to involve
myself with journalism, in every workshop, training, clubs, and even competitions. It was
because I could not believe in my capabilities nor my willpower to even make an effort.
However, I saw myself develop during those years of my life, and am beginning to
gather confidence to try the things that interest me. And with that confidence, I can
always be willing to learn from the senior writers of The Courier and hone my writing
skills further. I believe that if I would be given the honor to serve the school publication,
I can someday contribute something meaningful in this respected field.
2. WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE TO JOIN THE COURIER?
- Back when I was still a Grade 12 student, one of my English teachers inspired me to
pursue journalism. He always evaluated my drafts, essays, and critiques thoroughly, and
often gave positive commentary to them. He said that I have the potential to serve the
school publication in any college/ university that I would choose to study. Also, I
received earnest support from my family and friends, who also know of my capabilities
and skills. Subsequently, I gained confidence and motivation to try and join The Courier.
