Geometric Construction

OBJECTIVES:
The students are expected to:
 Layout two dimensional geometric shapes
 Perform basic geometric constructions

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Perform the exercises in geometric construction.
2. Use a pencil and do not erase the construction lines.
3. Use 1.0 or 0.8 tech pen for object lines.
33

Problem 1

Draw an inclined line AB 65 mm long, and 350 from the horizontal and bisect
it.
34

Problem 2

Draw an angle with vertex at C. Bisect it and transform one half to a new
position at D.
35

Problem 3

Draw an inclined line EF and assume distance GH= 42 mm. Draw a line
parallel to EF and at the distance GH from it.
36

Problem 4

Draw the line JK 95 mm long and divide it into five equal parts. Draw a line
LM 68 mm long and divide it into five equal parts. Draw a line OP 78 mm long and
divide it into three equal parts by the parallel-line method.
37

Problem 5

Draw a line OP 92 mm long and divide it into three proportional parts to in

the ratio 3:5:9
38

Problem 6

Draw a line 107 mm long and divide it into parts proportional to the square
of x, where x = 1, 2, 3 and 4.
39

Problem 7

Draw a triangle with sides of 76 mm, 85 mm and 65 mm. Bisect the three
interior angles. The bisectors should meet at a point. Draw the inscribed circle with
the point as center.
40

Problem 8

Draw a right triangle having a hypotenuse 65 mm and one leg 40 mm,

and draw a circle through the three vertexes.
41

Problem 9

Draw an inclined QR 84 mm long. Select a point P on the line 32 mm from

Q, and erect a perpendicular. Assume a point S 45.5 mm from the line, and erect
a perpendicular from S to the line.
42

Problem 10

Draw a 54-mm diameter-circle (lightly), inscribe a square in a circle and

circumscribe a square on the circle.
43

Problem 11

Draw a 65 mm diameter circle (lightly). Find the vertexes of a regular

inscribed pentagon, and join the vertexes to form a five- pointed star.
44

Problem 12

Draw a 65 mm diameter circle (lightly). Inscribe a hexagon. And

circumscribe a hexagon.
45

Problem 13

Draw a square (lightly) with 63.5 mm sides, and inscribe an octagon.

46

Problem 14

Draw an equilateral triangle, given one of the sides is 65 mm.

47

Problem 15

In the center of your space, draw a rectangle 88 mm wide and 61 mm

high. Show construction for reducing this rectangle first to 70 mm wide and then to
58 mm high.
48

Problem 16

Draw a triangle given the base AB = 22 mm, the altitude is 25 and the vertical
angle is 350.
49

Problem 17

Draw a square given the length of the side DE = 56 mm

50

Problem 18

Draw a square with the diagonal EF = 74.8 mm.

51

Problem 19

Draw a trapezoid given the lengths of the parallel sides AB=65.2 mm and CD
= 43.4 mm, the height is 20.2 mm and angle at B is 64O.
52

Problem 20

Draw a regular octagon given square with sides equals to 57.5 mm.
