Philippine literature already existed before the colonization, we have our

writing back then called "baybayin", and we also use our language. The difference is
that we don't have extensive knowledge of the literature that the colonies brought to
us as much as they do. No matter what perspective I can see, they have a big factor
in our current literature that helps to make it better.
I can't say that all they did was good or bad, after all, because the colonialists,
great writers of Philippine history will not come because of the bad things they did.
Many Filipino writers increased their desire to protect our country because if they did
not, we will be completely in the hands of the colonialists. During Spanish
Colonialism, "literature in this period may be classified as religious prose and poetry
and secular prose and poetry". If the Propaganda movement did not happen what
could happen to our country, who knows what will the effect be? During the
American Colonialism modern short story and critical essays were introduced. Lastly,
in the Contemporary Period, "the Filipino writer has become more conscious of his
art with the proliferation of writers workshops here and abroad and the bulk of
literature available to him via the mass media including the internet." If back then
they let them be as much as they want rather than making our literature good it will
result in making our Philippine literature gone and just following them.
Before we experience what, we have right now Philippine literature had
experienced a lot of things. By studying it we can understand its importance to
society, for us, and even our identity. On the of that, we can also know the reasons
why they write, their feelings, almost everything. Nonetheless, the literature will help
your mind be more aware of things and be a good person.
