SOP for EHS Awareness and Training
This SOP is comprises of following two parts:
1. SOP for EHS awareness
2. SOP for EHS training

1. SOP for EHS awareness

Tata Realty has planned, established, implemented, review and continually improve the system on EHS
awareness. Organisation put its best efforts to ensure that person doing work under organisation’s
control are aware at minimum level of:-
1. EHS Policy and EHS Objectives.
2. Significant environmental aspects and related actual or potential environmental impacts associated
with their work.
3. High OH&S risks and related actual or potential OH &S consequences associated with their work.
4. Their contribution to the effectiveness of the EHS MS, including the benefits of enhanced EHS
performance’
5. The implications and potential consequences of not conforming to the EHS MS requirements,
including not fulfilling organisation’s compliance obligation.
6. Incidents and the outcomes of investigations that are relevant to them;
7. Hazards, OH&S risks and actions determined that are relevant to them;
8. the ability to remove themselves from work situations that they consider present an imminent and
serious danger to their life or health, as well as the arrangements for protecting them from undue
consequences for doing so.
In addition to workers (especially temporary workers), contractors, visitors and any other parties should
be aware of the OH&S risks to which they are exposed.

Ways to improve awareness: EHS policy shall be communicated to all employees. Corporate
Administrative Services shall arrange to display EHS Policy at work places, offices and notice board. EHS
Policy shall be enclosed with Contract Agreement and/ or shall be provided to contractor or
communicate through display.
EHS MS documents are kept in BIM portal and besides its hard copy kept at site/ office.
Identified EHS hazard/ aspect/ risk/ Impact shall be communicated by the concerned department/
function to the relevant employees through Tool box meeting/ discussion in any meeting in formal/
informal way/ E-mail/ distribution of hard copies. The same shall be communicated to workers by site
engineers or EHS engineers in Hindi/ regional languages through EHS briefings/ tool box talk/ induction
talks/ posters/ warning signage.
Office/ site/ function head shall prepare Awareness/ competency matrix and plan the training periodic,
preferably initially on quarterly basis followed by online test.

2. SOP for EHS Training

Purpose: The purpose of this SOP is to identify the training needs, design and plan, impart the training
and assess the effectiveness of training.

Scope & Application: This procedure is applicable to all EHS trainings except Specialized Technical
Training for the employees of Organisation and its subsidiaries.
The Scope includes:
 Identification of training needs
 Formulation of Training Calendar
 Organize the training
 Evaluation of post training effectiveness

Process Description and Criteria for Identifying EHS Training Needs, Imparting Training and assessing
Effectiveness.

Identification of EHS Training needs


EHS Training needs shall be identified by using any of the following tools:
 Inputs from past incidents
 Inputs from Behaviour (Observation) of workforce
 Change management: Introduction of new process, equipment, machinery, new group of
workmen introduced
 Inputs by internal customers (top management / senior management): Any training needs
expressed by the top/senior management shall be considered for design of training
programme. In addition, training need shall be taken from individual Functions/project Head for
specific area of specialization.
 From an analysis of the performance appraisal: The specific training requirement mentioned in
the performance appraisal of an individual shall be taken as an input for training design.
 General EHS awareness training shall be given to all
 Outcome of HIRAC and EIAC as well as experience of site visit

Design of Training & Training Calendar in EHS planner


 On the basis of the information collected above, training programme shall be designed.
 Apart from others, objective, priority, importance and budget of the specific training shall be
chalked out during training needs identification.
 Based on the importance and approval of training needs, an annual training calendar shall be
developed and circulated to all Functions/ Project Head for nominations in EHS Planner form.

Training & Evaluation


 Training shall be organized based on the training needs and training calendar.
 Any change/ modification in the training design/ schedule shall be communicated to all
participant and Functions/ Project Head after approval from management.
 Records of training (training attendance, feedback, training questionnaire/ assessment etc.)
shall be collected and recorded for analysis and future reference.
 Feedback received from participant shall be analysed to evaluate the effectiveness of the
training as per established objective. The result of the training evaluation shall be
communicated to relevant person for further improvement. Training feedback analysis may be
done EHS Manager/ training coordinator.
 An assessment of individual participant (for organisation staff) for effectiveness of the training
delivered shall be done immediately after the training by written test and also after three
months of the training. This can be maintained in electronic form. It is recommended to
maintain the attendance sheet in paper form especially for class room training.
 Training effectiveness for workers shall be done verbally. Feedback on paper form/ electronic
form is not required due to their literacy issue/ else.
 Training effectiveness for staff shall be done paper form/ electronic form especially for specific
specialized training. It is not required for EHS sensitization session, etc. for training evaluation/
assessment and for training feedback are not mandatory to follow, it’s for reference. Other
forms/ electronic system may be followed in place of them. Training assessment may be done
after 3 months or later may be taken as per requirements. It may be link with site EHS
observation/ incidents.
 Training feedback form may be taken randomly in certain training to improve training.

EHS Induction Training
 Minimum 2 Hours EHS Induction Training shall be imparted to new joiner at project. Its basic
objective is to guide the person about the EHS Policy, Beliefs, Roles and Responsibilities;
hazards and the risk pertaining to the hazards; life-saving and cardinal rules of the organization;
emergency preparedness and finally consequence of not following the rules.
 EHS induction training shall be specially designed for office and functions as per need.
 The purpose of this EHS Induction training to employees at corporate office is to appraise the
individual with organizational EHS objectives, structure, and policy, code of conduct, processes,
performance, and key personnel. At Head Office, EHS Induction shall be part of HR Induction.
