TOPIC 1. Motivation and Success. People’s stories

I. PRE-READING ACTIVITIES

1.1. Answer the following questions, writing down some key-words which will
help you to prove you point of view:
- Do you consider yourself a successful person?
- What is “success” for you, personally?
- Where do you find your inspiration and motivation?
- Who and what can motivate you?
- How do you motivate yourself?

1.2. Compare your ideas with those of your groupmates. Say, in what you
coincide. Have you found many discrepancies?

II. READING

2.1. Read the article below. Explain, which of the mentioned issues are
acceptable for you and which are you strongly disagree with? Why?
2.2. Do you think that motivation is important for success and happiness?
2.3. What other components of personal success can you mention?

WHY MOTIVATION IS IMPORTANT FOR SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS

https://www.careeraddict.com/why-motivation-is-important-for-success-and-happiness

By Joanna Zambas, 15.11.2014–13.03.2019

Without motivation in life, it’s hard to strive for success and achieve internal
happiness. How can you pass your exam if you aren’t motivated to study? And how
can you be happy if you’re spending all your time on external motives (pleasing
those around you to receive praise or success) instead of internal motives (focusing
on a goal for personal happiness)?
As psychologist Tal Ben-Shahar, PhD, explains in his book Happier, happiness
is the “highest on the hierarchy of goals, the end toward which all other ends lead…”.

7
So, to help you reach your goal of self-love and satisfaction, we’ve listed the
reasons why motivation is vital for success, and how you can achieve “eternal
happiness”.
1. It increases your energy levels
When you’re motivated, your entire body is pumped with adrenaline to help
you complete the goals that you have set for yourself, which results in increased
energy levels. For example, when you’re excited about a project that you’re working
on, you rarely get tired. And when you’re out partying, you can dance the whole
night away without any problems, but if you were attending a gym class that you
disliked, on the other hand, you’d struggle to get through an hour. When we have
autonomy over our own tasks and goals, we instantly see our energy levels increase
as we are more focused and passionate about the result. This proves that work
motivation can increase our energy levels and allow us to perform better.
2. It makes you happier
Motivation builds determination to achieve something, like losing weight or
securing a new job, and when you succeed, you feel happy with your results. So, if
you continue to motivate yourself and set and achieve new goals, you’ll generally
feel happier than you did before.
And although success is the root of motivation, happiness is the underlying
desire leading the motivation. So, to ensure that both your happiness and
motivational levels are growing, set yourself small challenges and learn to be
satisfied with gradual improvement.
3. It’s infectious
When one team member is motivated, it’s likely to rub off on their colleagues,
causing more employees to be committed and driven. Indeed, one study referred to
by Sandglaz Blogshows that “when one team member [feels] and [expresses]
positive emotions, others [are] more likely to respond favo(u)rably to that team
member’s social influence attempts”.
This is also relevant to your personal life. Think back to when you spent time
with someone that was positive; did their positivity rub off on you and make you
feel more productive? If so, think about how your positive energy can influence
those around you and make them feel more motivated as a result.
4. It enhances your performance
According to the research of Dr. Anders Ericsson, and as Jim Taylor, PhD,
writes in Psychology Today, motivation is the most significant predictor of success,
and success is achieved through high performance. By understanding what motivates
you to do better, you will naturally be a better worker and climb up the career
ladder faster, or reach your personal goals. In a recent study published in the Journal
of Personality and Social Psychology, Cornell University researchers Kaitlin
Woolley and Ayelet Fishbach found that ‘giving people an immediate bonus for
working on a task, rather than waiting until the end of the task to reward them,
increased their interest and enjoyment in the task’.
So, on this basis, try to set up a reward system for yourself to help you stay
motivated. It doesn’t have to be anything big; it can be something small like a cup
of coffee from Starbucks or treating yourself to your favo(u)rite chocolate bar.

8
5. It increases your commitment
When anyone is motivated to do something, they will be more committed to
the task and will put all their efforts into it. It sounds easy when you’re naturally
motivated to do a good job, but when you’re feeling demotivated, you need to remind
yourself of the importance that commitment can have on your overall success.
Let’s say that you’re hoping for a promotion – if you are motivated and
committed to doing the best that you can, you’ll have a better chance of bagging that
promotion and advancing in your career.
6. It helps you manage your time more efficiently
Motivation is important to manage the challenges that life throws at us and to
do so efficiently. For example, highly motivated people are organised, and they
allocate set times in their schedules to different tasks, setting themselves a deadline
to complete each one. On the other hand, those who are less motivated don’t stick to
a specific plan and end up procrastinating in the process.
A good example is something simple like waking up on time and getting out of
bed. If you love what you do, you’ll be more motivated to get out of bed and into
work on time, but if you feel indifferent, you could end up hitting the ‘Snooze’
button a few times too many and wasting unnecessary time in the process.
7. It helps you grow as a person
Motivation enhances self-development. Indeed, as you set yourself personal
goals and you reach them, you’ll feel more inspired to push yourself further and
achieve greater things.
Take Rihanna for example, who started singing at the young age of 17. Since
then, she’s acted in blockbuster movies, including Ocean’s 8 and Valerian and the
City of a Thousand Planets, and launched her own makeup brand and a lingerie
company. By continuing to set herself new targets, she’s achieved great success and
has established herself as an entertainer and entrepreneur.
8. It builds your self-confidence
People that lack confidence are generally scared to move out of their comfort
zone and try something new. However, if you don’t take risks, you’ll have a limited
chance of success. This doesn’t necessarily mean you have to drop your entire
routine to try something new.
Instead, you can juggle a few different tasks on the go until you decide what
you enjoy and what keeps you motivated. For example, if you are thinking of setting
up your own business, start while you’re still employed. If you can see that it’s
successful, then it’s a clear indication to leave your day job and focus solely on your
business. However, if it’s not progressing as planned, you’ll have the safety net of
your job to fall back on.
Without motivation, success is unachievable. And while success is the vision,
it’s essential to remember that happiness is what’s most important in the equation,
because without happiness, there will be no sense of purpose to your success.

BIG FIVE PERSONALITY TRAITS

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Five_personality_traits
(abbreviated)

The Big Five personality traits is a suggested taxonomy, or grouping,

for personality traits, developed from the 1980s onwards in psychological trait
theory. When factor analysis (a statistical technique) is applied to personality survey
data, it reveals semantic associations: some words used to describe aspects of
personality are often applied to the same person. For example, someone described
as conscientious is more likely to be described as “always prepared” rather than
“messy”. These associations suggest five broad dimensions used in common
language to describe the human personality, temperament and psyche.

14
Starting in the 1990s, the theory identified five factors by labels, for the US
English speaking population, typically referred to as:
x openness to experience (inventive/curious vs. consistent/cautious)
x conscientiousness (efficient/organized vs. extravagant/careless)
x extraversion (outgoing/energetic vs. solitary/reserved)
x agreeableness (friendly/compassionate vs. critical/rational)
x neuroticism (sensitive/nervous vs. resilient/confident)
Those labels for the five factors may be remembered using the acronyms
“OCEAN” or “CANOE”. Beneath each proposed global factor, there are a number
of correlated and more specific primary factors.
The initial model was advanced by Ernest Tupes and Raymond Christal in
1961, but failed to reach an academic audience until the 1980s. In 1990, J.M.
Digman advanced his five-factor model of personality, which Lewis
Goldberg extended to the highest level of organization.
Each of the Big Five personality traits contains two separate, but correlated,
aspects reflecting a level of personality below the broad domains but above the many
facet scales that are also part of the Big Five. The aspects are labeled as follows:
Volatility and Withdrawal for Neuroticism; Enthusiasm and Assertiveness for
Extraversion; Intellect and Openness for Openness to Experience; Industriousness
and Orderliness for Conscientiousness; and Compassion and Politeness for
Agreeableness. People who do not exhibit a clear predisposition to a single factor in
each dimension above are considered adaptable, moderate and reasonable, yet they
can also be perceived as unprincipled, inscrutable and calculating.
Here is the description of the Big Five personality traits.
1. Openness to experience is a general appreciation for art, emotion, adventure,
unusual ideas, imagination, curiosity, and variety of experience. People who are
open to experience are intellectually curious, open to emotion, sensitive to beauty
and willing to try new things. They tend to be, when compared to closed people,
more creative and more aware of their feelings. They are also more likely to hold
unconventional beliefs. High openness can be perceived as unpredictability or lack
of focus, and more likely to engage in risky behavior or drug-taking. Moreover,
individuals with high openness are said to pursue self-actualization specifically
by seeking out intense, euphoric experiences. Conversely, those with low openness
seek to gain fulfillment through perseverance and are characterized as pragmatic and
data-driven – sometimes even perceived to be dogmatic and closed-minded. Some
disagreement remains about how to interpret and contextualize the openness factor
as there is a lack of biological support for this particular trait. Openness has not
shown a significant association with any brain regions as opposed to the other four
traits which did when using brain imaging to detect changes in volume associated
with each trait.
Sample items
x I have a rich vocabulary.
x I have a vivid imagination.
x I have excellent ideas.
x I am quick to understand things.

15
x I use difficult words.
x I spend time reflecting on things.
x I am full of ideas.
x I have difficulty understanding abstract ideas. (Reversed)
x I am not interested in abstract ideas. (Reversed)
x I do not have a good imagination. (Reversed)
2. Conscientiousness is a tendency to display self-discipline, act dutifully, and
strive for achievement against measures or outside expectations. It is related to the
way in which people control, regulate, and direct their impulses. High
conscientiousness is often perceived as being stubborn and focused. Low
conscientiousness is associated with flexibility and spontaneity, but can also appear
as sloppiness and lack of reliability. High scores on conscientiousness indicate a
preference for planned rather than spontaneous behavior. The average level of
conscientiousness rises among young adults and then declines among older adults.
Sample items
x I am always prepared.
x I pay attention to details.
x I get chores done right away.
x I like order.
x I follow a schedule.
x I am exacting in my work.
x I leave my belongings around. (Reversed)
x I make a mess of things. (Reversed)
x I often forget to put things back in their proper place. (Reversed)
x I shirk my duties. (Reversed)
3. Extraversion is characterized by breadth of activities (as opposed to depth)
and energy creation from external means. The trait is marked by pronounced
engagement with the external world. Extraverts enjoy interacting with people, and
are often perceived as full of energy. They tend to be enthusiastic, action-oriented
individuals. They possess high group visibility, like to talk, and assert themselves.
Extraverted people may appear more dominant in social settings, as opposed to
introverted people in this setting.
Introverts have lower social engagement and energy levels than extraverts.
They tend to seem quiet, low-key, deliberate, and less involved in the social world.
Their lack of social involvement should not be interpreted as shyness or depression;
instead they are more independent of their social world than extraverts. Introverts
need less stimulation, and more time alone than extraverts. This does not mean that
they are unfriendly or antisocial; rather, they are reserved in social situations.
Generally, people are a combination of extraversion and introversion, with
personality psychologist Hans Eysenck suggesting a model by which individual
neurological differences produce these traits.
Sample items
x I am the life of the party.
x I feel comfortable around people.
x I start conversations.

16
x I talk to a lot of different people at parties.
x I do not mind being the center of attention.
x I do not talk a lot. (Reversed)
x I keep in the background. (Reversed)
x I have little to say. (Reversed)
x I do not like to draw attention to myself. (Reversed)
x I am quiet around strangers. (Reversed)
Agreeableness trait reflects individual differences in general concern for social
harmony. Agreeable individuals value getting along with others. They are generally
considerate, kind, generous, trusting and trustworthy, helpful, and willing to
compromise their interests with others. Agreeable people also have an optimistic
view of human nature.
Disagreeable individuals place self-interest above getting along with others.
They are generally unconcerned with others' well-being, and are less likely to extend
themselves for other people. Sometimes their skepticism about others’ motives
causes them to be suspicious, unfriendly, and uncooperative. Low agreeableness
personalities are often competitive or challenging people, which can be seen as
argumentative or untrustworthy.
Because agreeableness is a social trait, research has shown that one's
agreeableness positively correlates with the quality of relationships with one's team
members. Agreeableness also positively predicts transformational leadership skills.
Conversely, agreeableness has been found to be negatively related to
transactional leadership in the military.
Sample items
x I am interested in people.
x I sympathize with others' feelings.
x I have a soft heart.
x I take time out for others.
x I feel others’ emotions.
x I make people feel at ease.
x I am not really interested in others. (Reversed)
x I insult people. (Reversed)
x I am not interested in other people's problems. (Reversed)
x I feel little concern for others. (Reversed)

17
4. Neuroticism is the tendency to experience negative emotions, such as anger,
anxiety, or depression. It is sometimes called emotional instability, or is reversed
and referred to as emotional stability. Neuroticism is a classic temperament trait that
has been studied in temperament research for decades, before it was adapted by the
Five Factors Model. Those who score high in neuroticism are emotionally reactive
and vulnerable to stress. They are more likely to interpret ordinary situations as
threatening. They can perceive minor frustrations as hopelessly difficult. They also
tend to be flippant in the way they express emotions. Their negative emotional
reactions tend to persist for unusually long periods of time, which means they are
often in a bad mood. For instance, neuroticism is connected to a pessimistic approach
toward work, to certainty that work impedes personal relationships, and to higher
levels of anxiety from the pressures at work. Furthermore, those who score high on
neuroticism may display more skin-conductance reactivity than those who score low
on neuroticism. These problems in emotional regulation can diminish the ability of
a person scoring high on neuroticism to think clearly, make decisions, and cope
effectively with stress. Lacking contentment in one’s life achievements can correlate
with high neuroticism scores and increase one’s likelihood of falling into clinical
depression. Moreover, individuals high in neuroticism tend to experience more
negative life events, but neuroticism also changes in response to positive and
negative life experiences. Also, individuals with higher levels of neuroticism tend to
have worse psychological well-being.
At the other end of the scale, individuals who score low in neuroticism are less
easily upset and are less emotionally reactive. They tend to be calm, emotionally
stable, and free from persistent negative feelings. Freedom from negative feelings
does not mean that low-scorers experience a lot of positive feelings.
Neuroticism is similar but not identical to being neurotic in the Freudian sense
(i.e., neurosis). Some psychologists prefer to call neuroticism by the term emotional
instability to differentiate it from the term neurotic in a career test.
Sample items
x I get stressed out easily.
x I worry about things.
x I am easily disturbed.
x I get upset easily.
x I change my mood a lot.
x I have frequent mood swings.
x I get irritated easily.
x I often feel blue.
x I am relaxed most of the time. (Reversed)
x I seldom feel blue. (Reversed)
5. There are debates between researchers of temperament and researchers
of personality as to whether or not biologically based differences define a concept of
temperament or a part of personality. The presence of such differences in pre-cultural
individuals (such as animals or young infants) suggests that they belong to temperament
since personality is a socio-cultural concept. For this reason, developmental
psychologists generally interpret individual differences in children as an expression of

18
temperament rather than personality. Some researchers argue that temperaments and
personality traits are age-specific manifestations of virtually the same latent
qualities. Some believe that early childhood temperaments may become adolescent and
adult personality traits as individuals’ basic genetic characteristics actively, reactively,
and passively interact with their changing environments.
Researchers of adult temperament point out that, similarly to sex, age and
mental illness, temperament is based on biochemical systems whereas personality is
a product of socialization of an individual.
While personality is mostly stable in adulthood, some diseases can alter it.
Some cross-cultural research has shown various patterns of gender
differences as well as birth-order differences, such that first borns were slightly more
conscientious, dominant, and agreeable, while also being less neurotic and less
sociable.
There are personality cultural differences, too. They are believed even to have
contributed to the emergence of different political systems.
It is interesting to consider how personality differences influence the ability to
study and the results achieved, learning skills and styles. Here are the main four of
them:
Name Function
processing information, forming categories, and organizing

5 ways to embrace cultural differences while traveling*

(by Gabrielle Boucher)
https://www.worldpackers.com/articles/ways-to-embrace-cultural-differences-while-traveling

Check out my tips on how to prepare yourself for the cultural differences you
may experience while traveling abroad. You can make the most of this amazing
experience!
Traveling to a foreign country is one of life’s greatest privileges. As humans,
we are lucky enough to have the ability to cross borders and experience different
cultures for very little time and money.
To develop a more open-minded and mature sense of the world and its billions
of people, traveling is essential.
Whether you are just visiting a foreign land or participating in a work exchange
where you get to live and work in a particular area, cultural differences can have a
huge influence on your time there.
It could be little things, like what time dinner is served or what is eaten for
breakfast.
____
* travel(l)ing can be written with 1 or 2 “l”.
It could also be big things, like how women are treated or how seriously religion
is taken.

24
It’s important to be expectant of cultural differences before-hand, so you don’t
experience extreme culture shock when you arrive at your destination.
Here are five tips for making the most of the local culture, and seeing cultural
differences as a positive rather than a negative.
1. Study the culture of your destination beforehand
Doing a little research on the country you’re going to is a great way to prepare
yourself for the cultural differences you’ll experience while traveling.
Just knowing simple facts about the country and how daily life is lived can help
you integrate better into the society.
Look up useful, everyday tips, like how people greet each other, whether you
should leave tips or not when eating out, and whether shoes should be removed in
homes. These may seem like trivial things, but some cultures take these customs
very seriously.
These may seem like trivial things, but some cultures take these customs very
seriously. For example:
x Many countries in Asia find it disrespectful if you don’t remove your shoes
before entering a building.
x Countries like the USA and Canada find it disrespectful if you don’t tip your
waiters and bartenders.
x Mediterranean and most Latin American countries consider a close embrace
and kiss or two to be a normal greeting, whereas greetings in other countries may
not involve touching at all.
Brushing up on these daily occurrences in a new country can make your first
few days there go a bit more smoothly. Do your research and make a mental list of
cultural differences to expect.
If you do no research at all, you risk being caught off guard, which can not only
stress you out but it may offend some of the locals.
To make a good impression on others, and feel confident in yourself, try to
study the local culture before you jump on the plane.
2. Converse with someone who has traveled there before
Take your preparation for travel a step further with direct conversation.
A great way to get an authentic feel for the culture is to get in contact with
someone who has visited there before.
Browse through travel blogs, look up fun facts and photos, read books, or
actually, have a conversation with someone who has spent time in your destination.
If you’re planning on doing a work exchange, then, there are websites where
you can actually send messages to travel experts and have a full conversation about
their travel experience.
Talking to someone who traveled there, rather than someone who lives there,
can be helpful because you’ll be having a similar experience.
Fellow travelers can give you give you an idea of the culture from a foreigner’s
perspective, and give you advice on what to expect and how to handle it.
They can also give you specific tips about cool stuff to do in the area, and share
some of their own stories with you to give you a sense of comfort about venturing
off to a foreign land.

25
3. Respect the local culture
After researching examples of cultural differences between countries and
learning about the local customs and traditions of your travel destination, you must
take your understanding of cultural differences to the next level.
Don’t just learn about all these cultural insights and then fail to engage with
them and respect them.
There is a term in cultural studies called “egocentrism”, which means viewing
your own culture as superior to others. While traveling, you must avoid being
egocentric at all costs.
It’s pivotal to put your ego aside and understand that no culture is better or
worse than another. Appreciate what makes the local culture different from your
own, and understand that the locals there live that way for a reason.
Usually, the locals are happy and content with their way of life, so just observe
and respect that rather than try to push your own ways on them.
It’s important to think of yourself as a visitor while traveling. When you venture
to a new land, they already have their own cherished customs in place, and that is
how life thrives there.
Your own culture and lifestyle may be different from how these people live,
but you must have the mindset that travel is a pure form of education, and you are
there to learn.
Absorb their way of life, try to adapt, and always try to see the positive side of
things.
4. Maintain good communication
An important way to show your respect for the culture is to communicate
clearly and carefully with the locals.
This means approaching people in a friendly, non-threatening and non-
judgmental way.
Some people are hesitant to open up to foreigners, so you must show that you
are trustworthy. Having a positive attitude, always wearing a smile, and being patient
will help your communication with the locals immensely.
Even if you prepare yourself and respect the culture, sometimes things can go
wrong and you may feel stressed, upset or angry.
If your bus is late, or if someone tries to rip you off when shopping at a market,
or if you’re lost and no one can give you the right directions, try to avoid acting
irrationally in a moment of panic.
These things always happen, whether you are at home or abroad, and you
shouldn’t let it detract from your incredible travel experience.
Speak to others slowly and clearly, and remember that not everyone speaks
English. If you don’t speak the language, use gestures and hand signals as best as
you can.
In your pre-trip preparation, it may be helpful to try and learn some words in
the local language or buy a dictionary to take with you.
If you are choosing to work in a different country, this tip of good
communication always applies to your bosses, co-workers, or host families.

26
The people you live and work with are willing to accept you into their lives and
help you have a wonderful experience, so always maintain consistent
communication and positivity with them.
This will result in a better relationship and a more enjoyable time living abroad.
5. Have empathy
To take this positivity with the locals further, try to have a sense of empathy
with them. This means being able to put yourself in their shoes and relate to their
emotions.
You’ll find that no matter where you are in the world, people are all the same
underneath the surface. Regardless of skin color, clothing, religion, occupation,
social class, sexual orientation, or any other trait, all people feel the same emotions
and want to be happy in life.
Recognizing this common connection between people can help you relate to
them and feel a sense of community even if you’re thousands of miles from home.
This is also one of the many ways that traveling makes you more open-minded.
Sharing a smile, a laugh, a hug, a meal, a dance, or any human experience with
others halfway across the world is an incredibly beautiful moment.
The bonds that people can create even if they look completely different and live
differently can be so strong, and this is why people love traveling.
With this sense of community, you’ll have a more enriching experience while
traveling or working and living abroad.

0:29
with Google Arts and Culture to share with you
0:31
5 lessons learned by photographer and designer
0:35
Angelo Chiacchio during his journey around the world.
0:40
In 2018, European designer and photographer Angelo Chiacchio
0:45
set out on a solo journey around the world
0:48
to closely explore humankind's relationship with Earth.
0:52
This led him to experience the most unique places and ways
0:56
of life on our planet.
0:58
The fragility of some natural habitats
36
1:00
and the cultural diversity of the communities he visited
1:04
taught him a thing or two about our journey through life.
1:09
When Angelo went back to Basilicata, the rural region
1:13
of Italy where he spent his childhood,
1:15
he learned that preserving the traditional practice of pig
1:19
farming in the community had been
1:21
left in the hands of the few that remained.
1:23
To preserve the tradition, families
1:25
would come around during pig butchering season
1:28
to prepare the traditional recipe that would provide them
1:31
with meat for the entire year.
1:34
With only a few pigs in the hamlet,
1:36
they would only produce what they
1:38
would consume, creating a harmonious balance
1:41
between human and animal.
1:42
[MUSIC PLAYING]
1:44
1:45
A thousand miles away, in the small village
1:48
of Nibutani in Hokkaido, Japan, we
1:51
find the indigenous Ainu people.
1:54
Different from the typical Japanese culture,
1:56
Ainu traditions are based on the belief
1:58
that all creatures and objects have

37
2:00
a spirit that promotes an intimate relationship
2:04
with the natural world.
2:05
Thus, when the Ainu take bark from a tree
2:08
to do their craftsmanship, they show gratitude and respect
2:12
towards that tree.
2:13
Then they mark the tree to allow it time to recover.
2:17
2:19
With increasing temperatures due to climate change,
2:22
reindeer herding in northern Mongolia is at risk.
2:26
Yet from generation to generation,
2:28
the Tsaatan people have dedicated their lives
2:32
to preserving this long-standing tradition.
2:34
They search for the best grazing locations for their reindeers,
2:38
and during cold and harsh weather,
2:40
to ensure they're safe and healthy,
2:43
sacrificing their comfort for the sake
2:46
of their beloved animals.
2:47
2:50
On the other side of the world, Mount Roraima
2:53
lies among the forests of Venezuela.
2:55
It's a 400-meter-high tepui that, according to the Taurepan
3:00
people, is the stump of a legendary tree that
3:03
once held all of the fruits and vegetables of the world.

38
3:06
For that reason, when visiting the rocky mountaintop,
3:09
you're expected to keep silent and step only
3:12
where previous visitors have walked,
3:14
as a sign of profound respect.
3:16
3:19
If there is one thing the Maori people have
3:22
fought for in the past centuries,
3:25
it is their heritage.
3:27
After enduring a challenging past,
3:30
it is widely feared that the Maori would cease to exist.
3:34
However, the Maoris' profound respect and pride
3:37
for their heritage and ancestors is what has kept them alive.
3:42
Every Maori introduction starts with reciting one's genealogy,
3:46
or wakapapa, a way of celebrating
3:50
their deep connection to their roots.
3:53
At the end of his journey, Angelo
3:55
took home the best souvenirs traveling could get him,
3:59
the ones that money can't buy.
4:01
He learned about what makes this world beautiful, vulnerable,
4:05
and one of its kind, experiences that you can only
4:09
learn when stepping out of your comfort zone.
4:12
Traveling has no rulebook.
4:14
So take advantage of this to explore your dream

39
4:17
destinations, become imbued with its culture,
4:21
all while using the resources you have at hand.
4:24
It doesn't have to be flashy, time-consuming, or expensive,
4:28
but engaging and fun.
4:31
We hope these lessons help you kick start your next adventure.
4:35
Safe travels.
