Assignment – VLAN Configuration on Real Networking Environment

Scenario

Suppose you are working in a big company named “ABC” with few separate departments. Two of them
are SALES and TECHNICAL departments, located at the first floor and the second floor of the building
respectively. But after one month, the company has recruited some new SALES employees. Since the
first floor is fully occupied, they have to sit at second floor, with TECHNICAL people. They need to access
SALES resources, not the TECHNICAL resources. In addition to the above mentioned requirements, it is
needed to transfer files among two departments.

You are asked to design and implement the best converged network topology solution for ABC’s
network needs and requirements. To solve this problem, you are asked to place separate switches in
each floor. Additionally, you can use the company router.

In order to utilize the design and configuration, you need to configure only two SALES PCs in first floor,
and one TECHNICAL PC and one new SALES PC in second floor; as depicted in the below diagram.

 Design a Network Topology including the IP Address plan, considering above requirements.
 Implement the designed Network in real networking environment.
 Do the proper configurations on switches and router.
 Submit a report (soft copy) including
o Designed network topology
o IP Address plan
o Running configurations of each device
o Discussion
