Assignment in Operation Management

FORCASTING - generally it is a technique that uses historical data as inputs to make infomed
estimates that are predictive in determing the direction of future trends. In relation to our
subject it is a method to predict business and/or production outcomes.

CAPACITY PLANNING - a practice of planning/dtermining production capacity and workforce


needed to make sure that your supply chain is eqquiped to meet demand. Also descibed as a
tool to minimize the discrepancy between the capacity of a business entity and customer
demands

SCHEDULING - basically it is a process of arranging, controlling and optimizing work and


workload in a production / manufacturing process. Its purpose is to make manufacturing
process flows with maximum efficiency by balancing the production needs with the available
resources in the most effective manner.

MANAGING INVENTORIES - also called inventory management; it refers to the process of


ordering, storing, using, and selling a company's inventory. It can be done with various
techniques depending on the organization's strategy.

ASSURING QUALITY - also known as QUALITY ASSURANCE (QA); is any systematic process of
determining whether a product/service meets the specified requirements.

MOTIVATING EMPLOYEES - it drives the organization to sucess; an act of increasing employees


enthusiasm, energy level, commitment and creativity level towards his/her job.

DECIDING WHERE TO LOCATE FACILITIES - the process of determining the geographic/specific


site for the firms operation.
