Smoking, Drinking,

Drugs, and The

Troubles Thereof

A PDA by Victor
The Dangerous Effects of Smoking
Smoking is very hazardous to one's health. It can
cause many problems, including cancer.
• Smoking accounts for 80-90% of lung cancer
cases in the US.
• 150,000 Americans die from smoking-related
lung cancer each year
• Smoking can also cause chronic obstructive
pulmonary disease (COPD), emphysema, and
Asthma.
The
Immediate Effects
of Smoking
Smoking also has several effects that don't lead to
death, but nevertheless are horrid to experience.
• A reduction in activity of brain and nervous
system.
• An increase in one's blood pressure and heart rate.
• Decreased blood flow to fingers and toes.
• Decreased skin temperature.
• And to top it off, BAD BREATH
The Good Drink (That's Bad for You)
Drinking. Everybody does it, and it's fun, so it must be alright
to have, right? While this may be true, it must be done in
careful moderation. Excess in drinking can cause many
problems.
• Excessive drinking can cause problems in organs, such as
the liver and heart.
• Your immune system can become damaged, making it
harder for your body to fight off disease or sickness.
It is a MUST that you are old enough to legally drink before
you partake in alcohol. Your brain needs to be developed
enough, or else you WILL wreck it.
• Damages can include affected coordination abilities and
the ability to think clearly.
• It also alters mood and behaviors.
From Cocaine to Marijuana: Drugs,
and the Dangers Within
Drugs. We've heard it time and time again: "Don't do drugs, kids! It's bad
for you!" But why is it bad for you, when it 'helps' so much with feeling
good? Well, my friend, I'm here to tell you why you shouldn't take drugs.
•Let's begin with a classic. Marijuana. While it may make you feel calm,
this is due to the fact that the 'grass' is chemically affecting your mood. It
also affects your thinking and memory. And that's just
the immediate stuff. Long-term use of marijuana can affect brain
development and learning centers of the brain.
•Another familiar face is Cocaine. Yes, you will feel happy when you take
it, and yes, it does almost sharpen your mind. But just for a few seconds.
Afterwards, it can and will lead to high paranoia and malnutrition, the
second being due to the fact that your body doesn’t think it needs to eat.
•And then there's good ol' Heroin. It affects the part of your brain that
protects you by telling you that pain is a thing, and tells it to tell you that
only pleasure exists. And after that, your mind gets confused and
becomes sad, making the drug itself become redundant. In addition to its
low practical use, it also has a chance to give you hypoxia, which means
that your brain doesn't get enough oxygen, which means you can, and
probably will, fall unconscience at some random moment.
A Better Choice!
Staying Clean and away from these substances can
improve your life.
• Many effects of drugs are short-term, so if you stop
early on, you won't have to worry about their sife-
effects.
• Remember, drink in moderation. If you can keep your
drinking at a healthy level, you won't have to worry
about mood swings, aggressiveness, or hangovers.
• Stopping smoking can have immediate effects. As
soon as in 20 minutes, your blood pressure will go
down, and within a single month, you will be able to
breathe easier, regain your sense of taste, and have
improved blood flow.
