Accomplishment Instructions

1. CESL Operating Restrictions

A. This document contains instructions for CESL software SCN6.2 and later. The SCN
version of software on the CESL is displayed on the "Main Menu" screen of the CESL.
See Figure 4.

B. The cable test (under the 'Maintenance Menu' button in the "CESL Main Menu") only
tests the cables associated with the EEC load. It DOES NOT test the 'J9' cable that is
used for the PHMU load.

C. During the EEC/PHMU load process, it is critical to make sure that both cable 'Z' and 'X'
are securely connected to the CESL suitcase unit, and that connector (P1), connector
(P2), and connector (P99) are securely connect to the receptacle (J1), receptacle (J2),
and receptacle (J99) on the EEC. There is a known system issue that can cause
corruption of the EEC operating system during the load, potentially resulting in an
inoperative EEC.

CAUTION

DO NOT CONNECT A DSU TO THE EEC FOR OPERATION UNLESS YOU HAVE RECEIVED A
MESSAGE INDICATING THAT THE OPERATION COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY. FAILUE TO COMPLY
WITH THIS CAUTION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EEC AND/OR DSU.

D. If you are running the Update Thrust Rating operation, and you receive a message
on the "Results" screen indicating that any operation failed, it is possible that the data
on the DSU could have been corrupted. Run the " 'Read Thrust Rating
and ID Block'" operation to verify all the data programmed into the ID
Block section of the DSU.

2. Charging And Initial Set Up Of The CESL

CAUTION

MAKE SURE THE TABLET BATTERY IS FULLY CHARGED. FAILURE TO MAKE SURE THAT THE
TABLET BATTERY IS FULLY CHARGED PRIOR TO USE MAY RESULT IN FAILED OPERATION.

NOTE
When not in use, the tablet should be switched off. Leaving the tablet in the sleep
mode during periods of inactivity results in shorter battery life.

A. Charging the tablet:

(1) Connect the CESL to an existing 120VAC/60Hz or 240VAC/50Hz power

source capable of providing 425 Watts.

(2) Make sure the CESL AC power input switch is in the OFF position.

NOTE
For the (PWA 111515) CESL and the (PWA 212297) CESL, if the AC power input
switch is in the OFF position, the "AC ON" light is not illuminated. For the (PWA
212040) CESL if the AC power input switch is in the OFF position, the "AC Power"
light is not illuminated.

(3) Make sure the tablet is turned off. See Figure 2, for (PWA 111515) CESL
and Figure 5 for (PWA 212040) CESL and (PWA 212297) CESL.

NOTE
For the (PWA 111515) CESL, if the tablet power input switch is in the OFF position,
the green light is not illuminated. For the (PWA 212040) CESL and the (PWA
212297) CESL, if the tablet power input switch is in the OFF position, the orange
light is not illuminated.

switch is in the ON position, the "AC ON" light is illuminated. For the (PWA 212040)
CESL, if the AC power input switch is in the ON position, the "AC Power" light is
illuminated.

(7) Make sure the tablet battery charging light is illuminated a solid color shows
the battery is charging. See Figure 2 for (PWA 111515) CESL and Figure 5 for
(PWA 212040) CESL and (PWA 212297) CESL.

NOTE

Once the tablet battery charging light is illuminated solid, the tablet is ready for normal
operation.

(8) Make sure the tablet battery charging light is illuminated solid indicating the
battery is fully charged. See Figure 2 or the (PWA 111515) CESL and Figure 5
or the (PWA 212040) CESL and the (PWA 212297) CESL.

(9) Switch the CESL AC Power input switch to the OFF position. Disconnect the
power cable.

NOTE
For the (PWA 111515) CESL and the (PWA 212297) CESL, if the AC power input
switch is in the OFF position, the "AC ON" light is not illuminated. For the (PWA
212040) CESL, if the AC power input switch is in the OFF position, the "AC Power"
light is not illuminated.

(10) Disconnect the CESL tablet cable 'Y' connector from the 'Y' receptacle on
the CESL.

(11) Disconnect the CESL cable adapter plug from the power connector on the
tablet. See Figure 1 for (PWA 111515) CESL and Figure 5 for (PWA 212040)
