OBJECTIVES
A. Content The learners demonstrate an understanding of: the different phenomena that
Standards occur in the atmosphere
B. Performance The learners shall be able to: analyze the advantage of the location of the
Standards Philippines in relation to the climate, weather, and seasons
C. Learning The learners should be able to…
Competencies/ explain how some human activities affect the atmosphere;
Objectives ( Write (S7ES-IVe-6)
the code for each
LC)
D. Specific The learners should be able to;
Objectives a. explain the occurrence of greenhouse effect
b. Suggest ways to mitigate the amount of carbon dioxide in the
atmosphere.
c. describe how the Earth’s natural greenhouse effect works
d. differentiate natural greenhouse effect from enhanced greenhouse
effect

Annotation
Objective 2: Used research-based knowledge and/or principles of teaching and
learning to enhance professional practice
The objectives are based on the constructivist philosophy of teaching. The learners can
acquire knowledge and create an understanding on their own, with the teacher’s
guidance. They can suggest ways how to mitigate the amount of carbon dioxide in the
atmosphere through their own experiences, through their practices at home.

Write your answer on the blank before each number.

____ EXOSPHERE
___ STRATOSPHERE
___ TROPOSPHERE
ENGAGE
B. Establishing a
purpose for the Ask them what an adjective is before letting the students
lesson describe the picture. Give them an example.

(5 minutes) An ADJECTIVE is a word that describes a noun.

Example:
The shirt is blue.
Shirt- noun (thing)
is – verb
Blue – adjective (describes the shirt)

Let the students describe the house in just one (1) adjective only.

Guide questions:
1. What is the purpose of greenhouses?
2. How do you call the process by which the Earth’s atmosphere warms
up?

EXPLORE
C. Presenting Let the students discover the process of the greenhouse effect through group
Examples/instanc activity. Remind them of the healthy protocols while doing the group activity.
es of new lesson Mechanics:
(15 minutes) 1. The class will be grouped into 3.
2. Each group will be given activities with guide questions.
3. Each group must have a secretary, timekeeper, social manager, and
discussant/reporter to share the answer/output in front of the class.
4. You are given
five minutes to
do the task.
5. Rubrics will be
provided as your
guide in doing
the task.

Group 1: Label Me
Group 2: Complete Me
Group 3: Differentiate Us

Guide Questions:
1. What is the source of heat
that warms the earth?
2. What happens to some
heat from the sun when it
strikes to the clouds?
3. What happens to some
heat from the sun when it
strikes to the earth?
4. Why
5. How greenhouse effect
happens?

EXPLAIN
A. Discussing The ‘greenhouse effect’ is a natural process and it warms the Earth. Without
new the greenhouse effect, Earth would be very cold, too cold for living things, such
concepts as plants and animals.
and
practicing Present the illustration of natural greenhouse
new skills effect and enhanced greenhouse effect.
(20
minutes)

Guide questions:
1. Is greenhouse effect natural?
2. Why is greenhouse effect beneficial?
3. How greenhouse effect become worst?
4. How will you differentiate natural greenhouse effect from enhanced
greenhouse effect?

concepts and Let the learners answer the question through a GAME titled “Answer Me,
skills in daily living when you hold Me!”
H. Making
generalizations Mechanics of the game:
and abstractions 1.The learners will pass the ball as the teacher play the music.
about the lesson 2.When the music stops, the learner holding the ball will give the answer
(5 minutes) 3. The teacher will count until 5 until the student can give the answer.
4. if the student cannot give an answer, the music will be played to continue
the game.

Ask them questions after the game.

Guide questions:
1. Do you agree that nuclear bomb can also contribute too much amount of
carbon dioxide in the atmosphere?
2. Why do people continue in making such weapon?

Note:
People continue in making weapons because of course there is conflict. There
is war. If there is no war, then there is no making of weapons. If there is no
making of weapons, the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere can be
reduced and if there is no war, of course there is peace. If there is no conflict,
there is peace.

3. What is peace?
4. How can you have peace?
5. When can you have peace?

Note:
Peace is an absence of violence. If you will not violate a particular rule, just like
the rules in this time of pandemic such as wearing of face mask, wash hands,
and maintain social distancing, then there is no conflict. Not just that but all
other rules. If there is no conflict, then there is peace. If you have relationship

6. As a student, how can you mitigate or reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the
atmosphere?

Possible answers:
a. Stop burning garbage
b. avoid smoking
c. tree planting

Ask the student what Republic Act prohibits smoking in public areas. Then ask
them what are the consequences if they are caught.
Note: We have to avoid smoking because aside from it can contribute too
much carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, it can cause many diseases such as
cancer, heart disease, stroke, lung disease, diabetes, chronic obstructive
pulmonary disease and etc.

Ask the students what Republic Act prohibits logging without authorization from
the DENR. Then, let the students know that a person who is found to be in
possession of a chainsaw and uses the same to cut trees in forest land or
elsewhere without authorization from the department shall be penalized with
imprisonment of six (6) years and one (1) day to eight (8) years or a fine of not
less than Thirty thousand pesos.

7. How can you avoid having those consequences?

Always remember that avoiding those activities that can contribute too much
amount of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere is one way of saving our mother
earth. And avoiding those consequences can lead to a harmonious relationship
with others, thus there is peace.

minutes) 3. Burning plastics and other materials can contribute carbon dioxide.
4. It is enhanced the greenhouse effect when more heat from the earth
escapes into space.
5. Tree planting is one of the ways to mitigate/reduce the amount of
carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

B. How will you encourage your relatives and neighbors to save mother
earth?

Objective 2: Used research-based knowledge and/or principles of teaching and learning
to enhance professional practice
In the assessment part, students are asked to encourage people in the society to change
the negative practices into the better one which is benefited by all. Thus, the ability of the
student in organizing and structuring their thoughts will be developed.
