Grade 10 Geography Lesson Plan – Tuesday April 26th 2022

Lesson Objectives –

 Prepare students for upcoming debate

 Organize ideas and speaking order

 Reiterate the procedure of how the debate will work (such as timing of speaking, rebuttal

timing, etc.)

Curriculum Outcomes-

 S-400 Listen to others to understand their perspectives.

 S-307 Propose and defend innovative options or solutions to address issues and problems.

 S-406  Debate differing points of view regarding an issue.

Lesson Plan:

 To start the class, we will briefly go over the procedure of the debate, and make sure

students know how long the timings should be and the schedule of the speakers.

 The class will be split apart, and the teacher will work with the small groups to

coordinate the possible plan of action and outcomes for the upcoming debate on whether

populations should be controlled

o Prior to this lesson students have been given the question: “the world has

implemented a policy limiting women to have only one child” and have taken a

side that they will argue in favour of

 Students should be well prepared during this time and organize their points and how they

wish to try and win the debate.

 This is a time for students to ask any questions, and clarify the specific geographical

arguments they will make and challenge
