Gaining knowledge on the health state of the older people is important because as people

get older they become vulnerable to illnesses. Growing old is a natural part of life for everyone.

The purpose of health improvement for the elderly is to extend their lives with additional

meaningful years. It entails illness management as well as early identification of illness. As

opposed to regular nursing, geriatric treatment is extremely difficult. Whenever it comes to the

caring for the elderly, there are several factors to put into considerations (Rasmussen College,

2019). Most clinicians engaging with older adult clients in different healthcare institutions must

have geriatric competencies (information, abilities, and perspectives to appropriately manage and

care for ageing people with numerous degenerative illnesses, particularly mental health issues).

To guarantee secure care integration and improve overall health, caregivers should have good

communication, teamwork, and interpersonal connection capabilities, incorporating patients and

households as active members. There are emerging trends and major challenges concerning

elders and the wellness of older persons. The following are a few aspects of their care:

 Social-The process of getting old raises person's susceptibility to disease, poor health,

and functioning capacities as they grow up. This results to a rise in severe health

occurrences and co-morbidities, which necessitates more basic, chronic, and lengthy

treatment, potentially leading to polypharmacy.

 Demographics- With better adequate healthcare, technology breakthroughs, and activities

aimed at promoting health and illness eradication, elderly people are living longer.

Communication is an essential knowledge in a healthcare setting to achieve competency.

Good communication skills help older clients while also allowing hospital personnel to deliver

better treatment. They can help individuals have improved health outcomes and give caregivers

the peace of mind which comes with having their clients are adequately cared for. Better

communication could have an influence on those other than the sufferer. Relatives and dear ones

who are well-informed might benefit from knowing that their parents as well as other relatives

are getting the adequate treatment. Increased functioning is also a result of improved

communication. Nursing practitioners could quite properly administer therapies which fulfill the

patient's requirements due to effective patient interactions.
